Summary

Having spent most of her senior year flying under the radar, the last thing Ella Lockhart expected was to have a tornado rip straight through her house, leaving her homeless. It's bad enough that the whole school now pities her, but did her parents have to let the neighbors take them in?

Now she's sharing a house with Ethan Poe, her former best friend-turned-enemy. All those feelings she used to have for him are starting to rain down on her again. Too bad he's a jerk and his new girlfriend has territorial issues. Thanks to Mother Nature, Ella's house and her entire life have been turned upside down.

Ethan isn't quite sure why Ella hates him so much, but he does know she wants nothing to do with him. He's never quite gotten over the crush he had on her as a kid, and now that she's living across the hall, it's hard to stay away. His girlfriend isn't helping the situation and when she shows her true colors, he doesn't want to date her anymore. He wants to date someone like Ella. Too bad she hates him.

This is a stunning book

I was really so pleasantly surprised by this book. I needed some light fluff but this is the best-paced, coherent and well-written young adult novel I have read in a long time. Amy Sparling is a new author for me and I look forward to reading more of her work.

It is a clean read with a witty, slightly sarcastic dialogue and some totally fresh ideas and creative twists and turns despite the all too familiar high school setting.

The narration is a little unusual and took me some time to adjust to but Meghan Kelly is such an excellent narrator, the five star rating is totally warranted

Romantic Chick Flick comes to mind.

It was an easy listen with a good high school storyline.. I imagine it will be very popular with teenagers

So much more than I expected!

Typically I do not listen to "high school" coming of age books, but this one appealed to me. The author had me hooked from the tornado. I loved the character of Ella in this story! The narrator did a fantastic job with the various characters and the POV. She was able to put so much emotion into her performance and I loved how she was able to change her voice for the characters. I have listened to several books performed by this narrator and think this one is my favorite of hers. I found the story to be original and enjoyable. This is a clean listen. I was provided with this audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this review.

Fun story, great narration

Oh, high school. The drama! This was a fun story, and I liked the characters. They felt real to me, and not forced together like some stories. Ethan is a stud, if only all guys were that sweet and caring in high school. Ella was likeable, and I loved her independent spirit. I loved to hate the villian/Kennedy, LOL. I almost didn't like the last scene with her, because my emotions were already tied up so much in one way toward her, I didn't want that to change. Ha!

I enjoyed the narrator, and appreciated that she used a different narrative voice for the male/female leads. It made it easy and more real to listen to. She did a great job. I plan to look up more of her books. .

Great Story!

This is a cute high school love story that just kept me wanting more. The narrator did an amazing job giving each character a unique personality. I particularly like the voice for Ethan and the cheerleader ex.

Great read

Any additional comments?

Ella's Twisted Senior Year by Amy Sparling was a great read. Ella didn't expect tornadoes to tear down her house and leave her homeless. She winds up sharing a house with her ex best friend that she used to like. This was a great read of the turbulence of high school and love. I loved reading this book.

An enjoyable story!

Ella's senior year took a nasty turn when her house was destroyed by a tornado. Now her family was moving in with her former best friend/ current enemy, until they could get their feet back on the ground. How will she ever survive?

Amy Sparling has written a great story that is very believable.

Meghan Kelly's narration was spot on. I really enjoy how she brings the characters to life.

Rekindling childhood romance

I'm a firm believer in soulmates and I believe Ella has found hers. When her life has been turned upside down the last person she expects to help her is Ethan. Childhood best friends, they are torn apart by lies. One fateful day they are thrown together again but someone may stand in the way of them coming back together. High school becomes more of a battle than normal and they may find that it isn't worth the heartache to become friends again. I love the innocence of the romance and found it very refreshing. Great narration that flows together well.

High School Days

Where does Ella's Twisted Senior Year rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It isn't a book I'd typically pick to read, but it was cute and was well performed by a narrator who used different voices for each character, which I enjoyed.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ella's Twisted Senior Year?

I loved when Ella got her revenge on the popular cheerleader.

Which character – as performed by Meghan Kelly – was your favorite?

Ella, the main character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Since I can't listen to an entire book in one sitting, it took me a few days to listen to it all, but I did want to get back to it when I wasn't listening to it.

Any additional comments?

This was my first time listening to this author, and it was a cute book, a little predictable, yet I wanted to hear it all the way through! I enjoyed the different voices that were used my Meghan Kelly and thought she sounded like a typical teen-ager in each of her teen voices. Well done!

Well-done and a fun listen.

This is a well-written story about two young people who go from best friends to enemies to lovers. I really enjoyed all the characters, even the ex-girlfriend. The plot was believable, and I like the way everything unfolded.

Narrator, Meghan Kelly is always a joy to listen to, and she did a fantastic job bringing each character to life.

Could be better

Parts of this book were very cute and parts cringe-worthy. The ex-girlfriend played the mean girl role to a T and Ella sounded like a annoying brat for most of the book. The H was unrealistic and the dialogue didn't do much better. It was a very quick book and it ended rather abruptly.

This book was given to me and I volunteered to give it an unbiased and honest review.
