Summary

The hilarious and action-packed middle grade adventure from beloved comedian and best-selling author Paul O’Grady.

Unbeknownst to anyone, somewhat-unhappy and never-quite-fitting-in 10-year-old Eddie Albert can speak to animals, including his pet dog Butch, his hamster and his two goldfish (who claim they were once pirates). But when Eddie is sent to stay with his eccentric aunt in Amsterdam, he discovers that she too has this gift....

So begins a breathless cosmopolitan comic crime adventure, as Eddie, Aunt Budge, his new friend Flo and a whole gang of amazing animals take on the most dastardly villain Amsterdam has ever seen, in a desperate race against time to save one of their own.

Eddie Albert is a technicolour cinematic adventure packed full of friendship, animals, action...and always, of course, a wicked sense of humour.

A brilliant book

Although this book is for children I really enjoyed it (as we're all children at heart), it was nice to hear Paul narrating it as well he's such a talented man & it's so sad that this beautiful soul died at a young age. I hope this book is in many school library's as it has got a message that is to respect all animals we have only one world.
I will definitely look out for more books from Paul.

I love Paul O’Grady!

I love Paul O’Grady. The one time when his TV show turned on I was a big fan in 2 seconds. I love this book! I especially love Butch!

thoroughly entertaining

I know it's a children's book, but I thoroughly enjoyed this story - the plot, characters, style of writing and the wonderful narration / performance. Very entertaining and I thoroughly recommend to children of all ages, including very old ones like me :)

Very fun!

I would however like to note that Dutch does not sound the same as German.

So Dutch words either sounding Englisg or German is a bit annoying.

Fantastic fun - and not just for kids

What a fun book! I'm 59 years young and really enjoyed it! Mainly because I've always wanted to talk to the animals too!

Wonderful!

I loved this book and it was so well written that I could imagine how everything looked. I think it would make a brilliant film! It was wonderful to hear all the different characters voices and is enjoyable for children and adults alike as this 65 year old can prove! I can’t wait to listen to the next one!
