Summary

A sizzling second-chance romance from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author L.A. Casey: Frankie pushed her first love away. A decade later, he walks back into her life, but is she prepared to trust again?

When rock star Risk Keller shows up in Frankie’s diner with his heart on his sleeve, it turns her world upside down. Letting him go was the hardest thing she ever had to do. For years, his voice has been a reminder of everything she sacrificed, and now it’s time to face the music.

For Risk, coming home shows him what he’s always known deep down - every song, every gig, every drink, every girl - it’s always been about Frankie.

There’s no denying their intense chemistry. But Risk still has a career that takes him around the world; Frankie still has a sick mother she loves too much to leave. Can they overcome everything in their way to give first love a second chance?

Enjoyable and emotional

Loved this story very emotional deals with a lot of issues that are heartbreaking. And based in a seaside town close to me so that's nice. Never listened to British narrators and found it weird at first didn't enjoy the woman voice at first but kept listening and it got better.

narrators okay

Could have been better with a different female narrator. I liked the story line and characters and felt engaged and invested until the very end.

Could've been so much better

I've enjoyed other titles by this author & I'm a big fan of Will Watt, but the female narrator is so bad. Like, ridiculously bad. Should be re-edited & re-recorded with another female narrator. I'm glad I listened with KU & didn't spend a credit.

Surprisingly Great!

I really, really enjoyed this one! A sweet second chance romance with some angst in between the beginning and the end. It was a great read! I can't wait to read more from this author!

2nd chance rockstar romance

Good story about a couple who grew up together, became more, then she broke up with him to care for her mum. Years later, he returns home as a rockstar…the sparks are still there…will there be an HEA or will old hurts hinder a reunion?

Robotic and inconsistent

The female narrator sounded so robotic.
The doctor from Dublin had what I can only describe as Irottish! Sometimes it had a lilt of Irish, then it would flow into Scottish, before returning to the attempted Irish.
Those two things had me switching off audio.
There was also a line in chapter one, which I found odd. It was when she was in her kitchen and realised it was 5:25am. She thought about the fact that Dr O'Rourke had never been in her home, let alone at that time in the morning and unannounced. That made no sense to me. Of course he would never have been there at that time and unannounced if he had never been in her house in the first place! It goes without saying! Too many of these little points niggled at me.

Soul wrenchingly beautiful

As always, LA Casey puts her characters through the wringer and pulls every single one of your heart strings, but in a soul wrenchingly beautiful way. You will fall in love with Frankie and Risk, feel their hurt and pain. The narration was wonderfully done, to the point you won't be able to stop listening.
