Great performances

I love this story and film. the audiobook captures most of the important events without creating gaps in the story. it's only 1hr long so easy to listen to when cooking rtc. the actors portray their characters well and are authentic. I was really pleased to discover this story as an audiobook. recommended 5*

Bittersweet

I've never seen the movie, but I don't think it could improve much upon this performance. The incomparable Angela Lansbury, the warm, rich voice of James Earl Jones and the foil of Boyd Gaines bring this play to life. It doesn't need a cast of hundreds and a fancy location - the power is in the relationships, the dialogue and the actors. It is much more powerful to listen to the words with no visual distraction.
I chanced upon this and nearly passed by. I'm so glad I listened. Amazing work.

Excellent classic

I loved the interaction between the characters and the warmth of friendship that resulted from the unlikeliest of people.

Absolute Perfection

What a delight. This 1988 Pulitzer Prize winning drama had been revived for the stage a few years back and now through Audible we can bear witness to the magical performances of Ms Angela Lansbury and Mr James Earl Jones again. Two theatrical and cinematic legends in their own right come together in a beautiful piece of work written by Alfred Uhry.

I am so happy to have this record of such a momentous occasion in theatre history. Ms Lansbury and Mr Jones' performances are outstanding and a true testament to their illustrious careers, You can practically feel the energy coming from this recording of their dynamic relationship as Daisy and Hoke; not to mention a wonderfully grounded and dimensional performance from Mr Boyd Gaines. Truly, a joy to listen to!

Thank you to the producers and to Audible for making this possible. Brava!

Wow. What a treat to heat JEJ.

The book was good. The narration by both was great. She is normally good anyway. James Earl Jones, as always was great. Brought back memories of a number of films he has been, not to mention his great performance in an episode of Big Bag Theory. Fan of yours JEJ.
