Summary

Super
So glad to see that Colin Forbes has finally been put onto audible. Yes they were written a long time ago when there was no social media or mobile phones etc but that is what life was like then, and many of us still remember those days. I thoroughly enjoyed it as I’ve only previously been able to listen on scratchy cassettes. I hope they put more of his books out on audible.

Entertainingly bad
Honestly, this is like yer Dad wrote a pastiche of James Bond. On the plus side, there’s a proper plot to keep you engaged. On the negative, it’s a badly written rag bag of misogynistic tropes and derring do acted out on shag pile carpets. It was only at the end that it became clear that the book was written somewhere around 1970 so maybe that’s more understandable (if not forgivable) but if you want a romp where women are girls with shapely legs, men smoke cigars or Silk Cut and someone gets killed in a Historic Embroidery Museum then go for it.
