Summary

Notoriously bad at peopling, Isadora Savoie spends most of her time in the greenhouse or at the local animal shelter, using her Conduit powers of growth and healing.

Content to remain in the background of the Savoie sister shenanigans, she’s reluctantly roped into the mystery of missing neighborhood girls. Now, she’s partnered with a flashy, flirty vampire to find them before it’s too late.

Devraj Kumar has seen and done it all. Three hundred years roaming the Earth as a Stygorn - a legendary vampire warrior who operates in the shadows - has its perks. But ennui has set in. That is, until he has a run-in - literally - with an intriguing witch while on a new assignment in New Orleans. Fascinated by her resistance to his charms, Devraj can’t help but push her buttons in an effort to get to know the shy witch. Fortunately for him, she’s been recruited by the Lord of Vampires to assist Devraj on the case.

Between a Bollywood marathon, supernatural dating app, secret package, and sexy driving instruction, Isadora is in over her head. And Devraj? After just one taste, he’s playing for keeps.

Great books made even better by the narrator

I love this series which is the first thing I have read by Juliette Cross. It is hot and fun, a great romance with a good story line.
Johanna Fairview and Aiden Snow’s performance is outstanding. They bring the characters to life and I found myself keeping the narration going even as I was reading the book on Kindle.
I will wait for the third book to be out on Audible to continue the series.

Loved every minute

Another incredible read from this author! Pair a shy and introverted witch with a sexy and charming vampire and you have a brilliant premise for a paranormal romance. There is an enemies to lovers feel, and it’s great to see Devraj slowly break down Isadora’s walls. I loved that Devraj was a Bollywood actor – he was so confident and sassy. Isadora is loyal to her family and content with staying in her comfort zone, yet Devraj shows her just how much there is to gain by being brave, especially with him at her side. Juliette Cross is the Queen of super steamy and fun romances and I cannot wait for the next in the series. Brilliant narration!

Superb

I am loving this series so much. Fun and sexy stories, and the narrators are awesome! Aiden Snow is one of the best in the business. Just perfect! And Johanna Fairview is always easy to listen to - I’m hoping they will be narrating the rest of the series. I’ve read book three already (Witches get Stitches), and I know it will be even more fabulous in audio. My thanks to Juliette Cross for these audiobooks. They check all the boxes for me.

The narrators for this story truly made the characters come to life! I really liked how they switched back and forth in each chapter.

Great story

This story is very fun. I think it was better than the first book in the series but one of the performers did an Indian accent for Devrash’s character which felt unnecessary and racist. It’s also disappointing that they didn’t hire an Indian voice actor for Devrash’s POV.

Cautious Witches, Delectable Vampires, and Puppies

Hello Gemmies! I have an exciting audiobook review to share with you today. Don't Hex and Drive by Juliette Cross is an adult paranormal romance and the second book in the Stay A Spell Series. Juliette Cross has done it again! I have a new favorite series!! I adored this book! Don't Hex and Drive turns up the spice level as well as the stakes in this heartfelt page turner.

This time we follow another one of the Savoie sisters.... Isadora. Isadora is an introverted witch who is happy to stay out of the limelight. She meets Devraj, a super sexy extremely extroverted vampire. Their initial meeting is unconventional and they end up having to work closely together to figure out the mystery of why some neighborhood girls have gone missing. It was fascinating to see the dynamic between these two characters. Devraj was such a wonderful caretaker and so sensitive to Isadora's needs. My heart just gushed with the both of them. I consider myself an introverted extrovert and I couldn't always relate to Isadora's reactions to things, but I do appreciate Devraj's sensitivity to her needs and his willingness to love and meet her where she was.

Don't Hex and Drive does such a wonderful job at giving me my paranormal fix while also mixing in a wonderful combination of sexy times, humor, mystery, and relationship goals. You have vampires, grims, witches, and werewolves. The mystery in this book was a little more intense than the one in Wolf Gone Wild and I was all the way here for it. We also get to see glimpses of some of the other characters in this world. I am putting it out into the universe, I want to see a romance between Clara and a certain neighborhood Grim.

The world building in Don't Hex and Drive is a realistic contemporary modern day version of New Orleans. The French Quarter is one of my favorite places to visit and this book makes me want to immediately go back! I especially liked the glimpses into different little shops throughout New Orleans. The way Juliette Cross seamlessly weaves together romance, action, humor, steamy scenes, mystery, and everyday life makes this entire series a winner!

Don't Hex and Drive has the same two narrators from Wolf Gone Wild..... Johanna Fairview and Aiden Snow. They do another great job bringing these characters to life. Johanna is able to convey Isadora's discomfort, vulnerability, and wit with ease. Aiden Snow narrates Devraj and my god does he know how to give an alpha male a sexy voice! I cannot imagine anyone else better to narrate these roles. The pacing by both narrators is well done and the story never feels rushed or stagnant. Both Johanna and Aiden add enough differentiation in their voices so the listener has no issue telling who is speaking. All in all Don't Hex and Drive is an entertaining listen!

If you are a fan of sexy vampires, introverted witches, steamy romance, drama, and page turning suspense then go read this book! I give Don't Hex and Drive 5 out of 5 gems. I cannot wait to read/listen to more stories in this series! Happy Reading!

Such Sweet Seduction!

‘Devraj was all about slow moves, sweet seduction, and reciprocation. He was a giver. Why that surprised me, I had no idea.’

If you’re looking for a book where the hero worships his heroine you have found it! Devraj’s character is sensual and thoughtful while also deliciously sinful. There’s so much to love about how he woos Isadora and builds her up.

Johanna Fairview is enthusiastic is her embodiment of Isadora and have you heard Aiden Snow growl? Wow. This is an absolute must listen!

Yowza! So Spicy!

Johanna Fairview and Aiden Snow brought Isadora and Devraj to life in a totally addictive and fun way! With Devraj having an accent, this audiobook might have been a challenge but the delivery was just a smooth as ever. I adore Juliette Cross and this audiobook is no different!

And we have another great performance by the narrators!
I already loved this book (review below) but Aidan Snow and Johanna Fairview brought these amazing characters to life in every way possible and I could feel all that Izzy and Dev were going through as they danced around and towards each other while dealing with some serious issues going on in their world.

My eBook Review

***5 ‘Arugula’ Stars***

I have to say, if I hadn’t already been making grabby hands at this book, the opening line of the description would have hooked me because I totally get being bad at peopling ~ most will say I’m not, but sometimes peopling doesn’t go all that well ~ and I thoroughly enjoyed adorable awkwardness of Isadora as she collided with the charming and determined Devraj, as well as all the hijinks that always seems to surround the Savoie sisters and anyone who happens to find themselves in their orbit.

I adored Isadora and Devraj. Izzy is an introvert and shy and can be awkward in certain situations where any sort of peopling occurs, but she also has this inner strength that comes out when she feels strongly about something ~ whether it be about people or animals ~ and I couldn’t help but love watching her stubborn side come out to play. Dev is sweet, charming and playful. He’s also quite sneaky and determined and when all of that is combined with a protective streak a mile wide? Well, he’s quite lethal in every way.

Their journey to their HEA was all kinds of awkward, yet swoon worthy fun. I loved Dev’s determination to wiggle his way into Izzy’s world as much as I loved her determination to keep him at arms length or further. But the chemistry between them was undeniable and I loved watching as they both fell, hard, for each other.

I loved diving back into this world. NOLA is one of the places on my bucket list and considering all that is going on, this has been the best way to ‘visit’. The mystery/suspense was done well in this book. It was well thought out and executed and didn’t overshadow Dev and Izzy’s journey, but instead added to it. As for the cast of characters. I tend to have my favorites in any series, but here I’m pretty fascinated with all of them in equal measure, though I am crossing my toes that a certain Grim gets more page time as the series progresses. But as it stands, I loved getting to experience a little of the Jules/Ruben situation and cannot wait to get my hands on Violet and Nico’s book!

The Indian Accent 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

Love the story and the romance but you didn’t have to to do a Appu from Simpson’s voice. Ironically for Devraj’s narration you got an American Narrator.

It was done in poor taste.

You actually did have to do that. If you were true to your story after 300 years of globe trotting Devraj won’t have an Indian accent at all.

Cute, Entertaining Story

The story was cute. It was predictable in the way most romances are, with very little depth to any of the supporting characters or villains. It had its charming moments and I really enjoyed the little universe this series takes place in. I'd be tempted to read more if the main story arc had any meat to it. I was really disappointed to get to the moment of confrontation with the 'bad guys' only to have it over quickly, resolved without follow up, no further development of the heroine or her powers. In the end it was predictable and anticlimactic.

I think the performance is what saved it honestly. The woman actors voice as the male lead was funny in contrast to when he was actually narrating his own chapters. Both actors did a great job and made this story worth listening to on a very long drive.

Another Great Story!

Devraj and Isadora were cute. The story with the missing girls was good and the two mains definitely had chemistry. Their “meet cute” was funny. And their falling for each other progressed pretty naturally. Isadora walking next door to accept an offer Devraj made was one of my favorites.

The narrators are excellent and I honestly love them so much! Aiden Snow did an excellent job as Devraj and his accent was on point. I’m amazed by Aiden Snow and Johanna Fairview and their ability to be distinct in their voices and characters as the books move along.

I could’ve done without Devraj being a Bollywood star. It didn’t add much to the story and he could’ve been hot without that detail.
