Summary

Dolores Claiborne has a story to tell. But it is not quite what the police had expected.

Dolores Claiborne has a confession to make.... She will take her time. Won't be hurried. Will do it her way, sparing neither details nor feelings. Hers or anyone else's.

This is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Truth that takes you to the edge of darkness. Dolores Claiborne has a story to tell, and you'd better pay attention - or else.

One of the best

Not sure how old this published book is but it should have been written for audio. An incredible challenge to write an entire book based on one woman's statement from start to finish. The narration needed to be good and it was perfect. Add to that a the typical king world and characters and it was faultless. I absolutely loved this book, so theyar brilliant

Dolores Claiborne

Although I read this book many years ago I thoroughly enjoyed it, the narrative was excellent and kept me intrested all the way through, The story of course is second to none, another one of Steven Kings master pieces ,it brought so many different feelings to the light ,if I wasent sad and maybe shedding a tear then I was laughing or maybe so angry I felt I could actually kill Joe myself , I recommend this book to anybody and hope you enjoy it has much has I did 😀

One of his best

If you think King only does horror or the supernatural try this book. What a great story well read by the narrator.

the narration

Having always been familiar with Stephen King I had only ever read Pet Cemetery, as a teenager. I've seen all the films based on his books, but books are always better, aren't they?! (maybe with the exemption of Shawshank, that film is hard to beat). So, recently I've started working my way through his books. This one is amazing, so well narrated, I was hooked from the start. SK's talent for diverse characters and story lines is phenomenal. This one is one of my favourites

Pulls you in chapter by chapter

Slow beginning, but completely enthralling by the second chapter. Narration is outstanding. King is a master storyteller.

Another top-class audiobook

I loved this book the first time I read it. Maybe it's been done before, but the whole book being written as a single dialog from a single person really won me over.

As this is written as a single dialog, audiobook is the perfect way to experience this story, and I enjoyed it listening to it even more than reading it. Frances Sternhagen was magnificent and really brought the character to life. She made it seem like you were actually sat in a room with a woman telling you a story, not just reading a book to you.

As always, Stephen King's story-telling is next to none, and being able to portray such a vivid and entrancing story just through a single person's dialog without getting tedious just shows why this man is considered by many one of the greatest authors of our time.

If you haven't listened to a Stephen King audiobook, I cannot recommend this one enough, so stop reading this, and get listening to Delores Claiborne.

Just loved Dolores and the narrator brought her entirely to life. Wonderful story telling by Stephen King, as ever.

a mothers love. heartbreaking

My heart broke and rejoiced and broke again. The story of a mother's love and a deep felt, if tumultuous, friendship told from the view point of the protagonist was gripping, heart wrenching and at points made my soul ache with sadness and joy. loved it x

Excellent - it’s King, what do you expect?

I liked everything about this book. But it’s the first time in a long time where the story was matched by the excellent narration and production. A lovely bit of storytelling and escapism.
