Mr Pratchett NEVER fails

I loved this tale, it had a serious side as well as the Pratchett humour. The story was set in the first part of the reign of Queen Victoria, it cleverly included the characters of Charles Dickens and Henry Mayhew as a relevant part of the tale. I did really enjoy this, it was a departure from the normal stories of Terry Pratchett, - EXCELLENT!

Comical and endearing

Would you listen to Dodger again? Why?

Yes - This takes a lot of characters I know and puts a spin on it.

If you’ve listened to books by Terry Pratchett before, how does this one compare?

I like this book, different from Sir Terry's Diskworld and better than the Long Earth stuff - I read all 5 and just felt I had wasted my time...

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A fun romp in the day in the life of a Tosher

Any additional comments?

I like this book, different from Sir Terry's Diskworld and not as good, but better than the Long Earth stuff - I read all 5 and just felt I had wasted my time...

This takes a lot of characters I know and puts a spin on it.

Comical and endearing which Sir Terry had a knack for putting in all his books.

He takes the Artful Dodger and spins that Pratchett magic in and wallah - Dodger, a fun romp in the day in the life of a tosher...

I would recommend this book to anyone who like Terry Pratchett, Victorian adventures or even Oliver - see if you can spot all the characters...

Excellent

For a young persons book this combines 'historical' events with fiction in a way which is unnoticable and doesn't rule the story. I found this 'unputdownable'. A very enjoyable story.

entertaining

Full of historical characters which add to the fun I found this book very entertaining and up to the usual Pratchett standard. Excellent narration.

Dodger.

Pratchett's homage to Dickensian London. Funny, exciting and a thoroughly good story. Stephen Briggs narrates wonderfully as usual

Wonderful semi historical fantasy.

Wonderful novel of the Victorian underbelly of London. Weaving historical and litratuary figures skillfully together.

Try not to dodge this title!

Where does Dodger rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Dodger ranks quite high among the audio titles I have listened to.

What did you like best about this story?

How Dodger became admired by all the "Toffs" for his heroic deed.

Which character – as performed by Steven Briggs – was your favourite?

Dodger of course... Without a doubt!

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laughed all the way through.

Any additional comments?

I know some of Terry Pratchett's books can be frustrating to read at times - as he can over stress the comedy quite often, but if you are of the same mind give this title a go, you won't be disappointed, I'll guarantee that.

Artful storytelling

Great book of lottery fantasy as Terry calls it. An interesting if rosy look into the London of the early 19th Century. A bit Commander Comes meets Charles Dickens! A good story with a little fact. London without all its warts.
