About this listen

Jacqueline King reads this brand-new adventure for Doctor Who’s 60th Anniversary, based on a script by Russell T Davies and featuring the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna Noble, as played on TV by David Tennant and Catherine Tate.

A life-changing encounter. A fugitive from the stars. Wrathful warriors in pursuit.

Landing on Earth, the Doctor finds a stranded alien in need of protection – and is dragged headlong into the life of his old friend Donna Noble, knowing that if she ever remembers their time together, she will die…

Jacqueline King, who plays Sylvia Noble in the BBC TV series, reads Gary Russell’s novelisation of the 2023 television adventure by Russell T Davies.

Fantastic Job!

Jacqueline King’s narration of the star beast was amazing and I want more like this in the future.

Doctor Who The Star Beast

I enjoyed the TV specials for the 60th and I didn't realise they were novels too. It was a briliant novel and it was just like on the telly accept for a few more details. The story telling was really well done and the writing was briliant. Cant wait to read the next two novels.

Excellent audio book

Jacqueline King does a brilliant job of bringing this come to life - her impression of the Doctor is spot on and she has a great vocal range for the various characters - the evil Meep voice is fantastic. A lot of the story is told from Sylvia's point of view so choosing her as the narrator made perfect sense even though I wasn't aware of her vocal range until now. Excellent sound production as well.

The story rattles along but includes various additions and backstory to flesh out some of the characters - and even introduce a few new ones!

Well worth listening to even if you don't want to read the book or had reservations about the Specials, if only to admire a great vocal performer and high audio production values. 10/10
