About this listen
A stylish Doctor Who murder mystery novel featuring Mel Bush, written and read by Bonnie Langford.
When young Mel’s business partner, Sabalom Glitz embarks on yet another “get rich quick” scheme, it marks the start of an epic, death-defying murder-mystery in space.
After barely escaping the snares of a murderous galactic cult, Mel searches for fellow survivors in a nearby spaceship graveyard – while Glitz looks to fill his pockets. But the discovery of a spaceship with its crew in suspended animation, and incredible secrets on board, leaves the duo stranded with no way off.
Mel revives the crew – and then the murders start. Murders that cannot possibly have been committed by any of the crewmembers. In fact, there are only two realistic suspects – Glitz and Mel themselves…
Bonnie Langford, who plays Mel in the BBC TV series, reads her first ever novel.

What Mel did after leaving the Tardis
I love the character of Mel in Doctor Who and this is a great story to show what happened to her after leaving the Doctor and the Tardis. It held my interest right to the end and I felt all the characters were well written. Bonnie Langford does a great job of reading the book and naturally enough is excellent as Mel but also does a good Glitz. Very enjoyable.

Mel Marple
Mel's departure from Doctor Who was always one of the worst in the series. Mel heading off with Glitz made little sense and it was hard to imagine them working as a team. Credit then to the writers for making this team work and creating a believable and effective relationship. Melanie Bush was easily one of the worst companions on television thanks to poor writing and poor stories but she was always one full of potential. Thankfully Big Finish, along with Bonnie Langford, have over the years managed to see and fully realise Mel's potential and she is now easily one of my top 5 companions. This book continues the good work. Bonnie does a great job narrating the story and Mel continues to grow and flourish as an engaging and fully rounded character. The story itself isn't anything special. It starts off as a Doctor Who type sci fi horror on a space station and then becomes a murder mystery on a spaceship. Neither stories are particularly good but are an easy and entertaining enough light listen. Obviously this one is going to appeal most to Doctor Who fans and particularly fans of Mel/ Bonnie Langford. I'd certainly recommend it and hope more come out and we get many more of the further post Doctor adventures of one of his best and most underrated companions. The brilliant Ms Melanie Bush.

Brilliant!!
A keeps you guessing mystery, space adventure, Sabalom Glitz, Mel, the energetic polished and agile performance of Bonnie Langford, and a puppet squirrel, what's not to like?
Do another one please 🙂
