Summary

Deutschland in naher Zukunft. In der Politik gibt es eine Quote für Frauen mit Kopftüchern. Jesus-Statuen in Kirchen werden gegen geschlechtsneutrale Figuren mit Blumenkränzen ausgetauscht. An der Erdogan-Schule in Berlin haben alle Schüler*innen Migrationshintergrund. Zugleich verüben Rechtsradikale, die einen Staat im Staate schaffen wollen, mörderische Anschläge. Wegen der ungelösten Wohnungsnot werden Containersiedlungen errichtet, in denen die Unterschicht untergebracht ist. Und auf der internationalen Bühne greifen China und Russland nach der Weltherrschaft. Die deutsche Gesellschaft ist vollkommen polarisiert. In dieser Situation kandidiert Sabah Hussein als erste muslimische Frau für das Amt der Bundeskanzlerin - ein erbittertes Ringen um die Zukunft eines zerrissenen Landes beginnt.

Bit of a blunt instrument

By extrapolating from the left and right wing extremes of opinion current today (not only in Germany) a possible future is depicted but it fails to either shock or amuse. I wouldn't have cared if it was either right wing or left wing as long as it was well written or funny but it was neither. This book garnered a lot of publicity but that must have been for daring to tread this ground rather than the content.
