Summary

Harry has no illusions about himself. He looks in the mirror and sees a fat, ugly bloke who’s gone stale at the age of 35. He wasn’t always like this - in his early 20s, he was into clubbing, dating, just like any other gay guy in London - but since he moved in to look after his mum, and her subsequent death, he’s let himself go. Besides, there’s no one to make an effort for, so why bother, right?

Then a construction site worker starts whistling at him every morning on his way to the office.... Tony thinks Harry is one of the sexiest bears he’s ever seen. But when he finally gets to talk to Harry, Tony soon realizes that getting to know him is going to take some effort. Not that the prospect puts him off - Tony loves a challenge, and he’s not about to give up on Harry.

Two ordinary men. Real life. Real-life situations. And love....

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Another great story from KC Wells!

Denim is the fourth book in the Material World series but it is also a standalone story. The Material World books are connected by theme not by characters or storyline.

I love that this story is about Harry, who doesn’t necessarily have the perfect body, and Tony who comes to love him just the way that he is. I love reading books that are about “average” looking people just as much as I like reading about all of the hot, perfect body ones.

This book made me tear up in a couple of places which was perfect as I like books that get my emotions involved. The blurb really tells you everything else you need to know but I also have to say how much I love the tag line for this one: “Two ordinary men. Real life. Real-life situations. And love....”

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Heartwarming Story

This was a pleasant surprise. I have enjoyed the series so far, so I figured I would enjoy this one, but I didn’t realize I’d like it this much. While this is the fourth book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone, same as the previous books. All aspects of the book reach a conclusion by the end of the book.

Harry was a great catch, only he couldn’t see it. Tony could, and never passed up the opportunity to tell him so. I loved their relationship. It felt real and authentic. My heart ached for Harry. His insecurities are very relatable. Tony was the absolutely great with Harry, and they made an adorable couple. I enjoyed the flow of the story and the characters we meet.

Seb Yarrick does an extremely good job with all of different characters and keeping track of the distinctions between each voice. It was easy to tell who was talking, and you could feel each emotion they felt. He did a fantastic job bringing this story to life. His accent is pleasant to listen to.

No Illusions

Harry has low self-esteem, he used to have an active social life but since moving in with his Mother and her subsequent death has become a homebody. He can't believe such a gorgeous fella like Tony can really be interested in him, but Tony is prepared to take the time to get Harry to see that they're perfect for each other. Seb Yarrick did a great job with the narration, and the words were clearl and precisely spoken.

The best in the series so far!

This book is my favorite in the series so far. I loved Tony and how he sweetly reassured and took care of Harry. Some parts, specially the ones with Harry's self-deprecating thoughts and actions, were difficult to read for me but the last chapter really is worthy of any stress it could cause any other. Regarding the audio version, Mr Yarrick made a wonderful performance managing the emotions beautifully with his acting skills and smooth voice. I enjoyed the book so much! the best in the series so far!

surprisingly emotive, deep and transformative

These are stories of real men, in real life and love. it's so completely ordinary that it feels so real. it's authentic, honest, sometimes painful yet totally wonderful.

I felt for Harry from the start and loved his journey to love and self acceptance. it's a beautiful story of truly finding your person. the person that makes you better, loves you wholeheartedly and transforms your life from within.

Love Under Construction

Denim is a wonderful standalone romance that fits within the Material World series. This book really touched my heart – Harry deals with body image issues (something I could relate to very well) and can hardly believe that the hot construction worker is flirting with him. Tony was such a sweet and blunt guy – I really liked how honest he was in his attraction and wooing of Harry. They made a wonderful couple and their support and love for each other made this book extremely enjoyable.

The audiobook was narrated by Seb Yarrick who did a great job. All the characters were voiced perfectly with just the right amount of emotion and energy. I thought this audiobook was really engaging and it kept me wrapped up in the story. The audiobook production was nicely done as well.

Sweet and tragic

This book was fun but a little tragic too, because of the main characters low self-esteem.
It still has humour and well described characters that’s developed in to different personalities
Chemistry between the main characters is good and you feel the connection from the beginning
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and good dialogues and enough of them

Narrator:
Clear pronunciation and read with feelings, I enjoyed listening to this audio.
4 stars overall.

Romantic & So Much Fun, Seb Yarrick is Wonderful!

The fourth book in K.C. Wells’ A Material World series, Denim has a flavor all its own. Incredibly funny, sinfully sexy, and with a lovely message about positive body image, Denim is a thoroughly enjoyable, feel-good romance.

This story comes across beautifully in audio. Seb Yarrick's voice is adorable and just perfect for these characters. He makes the sexy bits so sexy (the way he pronounces tongue is just delicious. He blew my mind in Silk and I’m going to recommend that one in audio too).

This is a fast paced novel, and Mr. Yarrick keeps it rolling along smoothly. Plus, there's a wide variety of British accents in Denim and Mr. Yarrick keeps each one distinct, and he does a wonderful job with Tony's Spanish mother.

Denim is incredibly funny, and Seb Yarrick totally gets Ms. Wells' sense of humor. I love that dry British wit, and the tongue-in-cheek sass. The humor, delicious erotica, and touching, heartfelt message, make Denim a winner!

Love this 'real' love story

Seb Yarrick nailed his performance of Tony and Harry in this tale of "real" people & the struggle to find love & self-acceptance. There's so much I want to say about Harry's perceptions, the way KC handled that sensitive issue - it was very relatable to me, & made this one a bit harder to get through, but it was so SO worth it! Tony is my hero throughout the story, and I'm so glad he kept after what he wanted. The humor, heat, heart, and love in this one makes for a very enjoyable listening experience!

Denim

Harry has put on a few extra pounds and has resigned himself to living alone. When he begins to get attention from a gorgeous construction worker Harry does not believe it to be true. How could anyone be attracted to him, but Tony is more than ready to prove to him that his feelings are true.

Harry and Tony’s story is a wonderful listen. It shows what love can accomplish. Tony may be attracted to Harry because of his looks but what he finds Harry hiding from the world makes Tony love him all the more. Harry is a wonderful man who longs for his past and cannot see what he has to offer for the future. It was nice to see the bond begin to grow between Tony and Harry as they spend more time together. There story is a sweet one full of emotion. Harry must find a way to forgive himself and embrace his body to move on to a future with Tony. The two make a good couple and I enjoyed their story. Narrator Seb Yarrick does a good job of bringing out the emotions in these characters and I was quickly immersed in their story.

For the Love of a Bear

Denim by K.C. Wells and narrated by Seb Yarrick was given to me in exchange for an honest review. Harry, an office worker, has been stuck in a rut and unable to find the energy to get himself out of it. Tony, a construction worker, finds himself attracted to the bear of a man who walks by his construction site everyday. He tries to get his attention by whistling at him. But Harry believes it is aimed at his coworker Deb because who would find him attractive. Tony then takes matters into his own hands and asks Harry out. Harry reluctantly says yes and finds that he is glad he did. I enjoyed this book with Seb as the narrator. These two characters were made for one another even though it took a while for Harry to realize he was good enough for himself and for Tony.

Loved it!

I loved this story. It was so sweet and wonderful to read. I have not listened to anything by this narrator before I must say I have been missing out. I liked the way he brought the charters to life in my mind. The way he gave them each their own identities was awesome. I hope we get more books like this from this author and narrator.

I love KC Wells' work and this was a great example of her shorter length novellas! In a short time, she fleshed out these characters to make them both believable and true and Seb Yarrick does a lovely job at bringing them to life! Great listen!

Bears love denim 😉

A feel good story about a confident construction worker in denim and an unsuspecting bear who doesn't know how sexy his body type is ☺️

Harry and Tony

Denim is book 4 in A Material World series. In this book Tony, a construction worker, wants to get the attention of Harry, who works near by, so he shows his interest with a wolf whistle. At first Harry doesn't think the whistle is for him because why would a gorgeous man be interested in him. I love Tony's persistence. Tony doesn't give up on wanting to show Harry that he wants to spend time with him, that Harry is just his type. It takes Harry a bit because he doesn't think he's worth Tony's time because of the way he looks. Tony and Harry work together to find their happy ending. I adore the ending as Tony and Harry had the same idea. This is an enjoyable story and I recommend this book and series.
Narrator Seb Yarrick does another fabulous job in this series.

Self Worth

Denim is a story that touches the heart of readers, it is also a real life struggle people face on a daily basis. Learning to appreciate yourself, inside and out despite what others may think of you can be a challenge and it can be the greatest reward.

K.C. Wells writes a few books that resonates with real life experiences and the perceptions of one's self being as well as self worth.

Thank you K.C. Well I've enjoy this series thus far, and looking forward to move of your work.
Thanks Seb Yarrick for the excellent narration.

Harry takes each day as it comes, he sticks to daily schedule, his quiet bus trip to work, the clothes he wears, shopping, cleaning, the kind of beer he drinks, the days he goes out with his work mates etc., until a construction worker took notice of him.

Tony, a construction worker sees Harry as a beautiful, sexy, handsome bear of a man, he had no preconception of what kind of person he wants or what kind of person Harry is. He took the initiative to get the man he wants, first by a wolf 🐺 whistle, then he over heard Harry's work mates were heading to a bar for games and drinks, he goes to the bar and there he made his move.

These two characters suits each other and I'm happy they found each other
