About this listen
It’s springtime in the Highlands but storms are brewing for Hamish Macbeth. His life is going to pot. He has - horrors! - been promoted, his new boss is a dunce, and a sinister self-proclaimed gypsy and his girlfriend have parked their rusty eyesore of a van in the middle of the village.
Hamish smells trouble and as usual he’s right. The doctor’s drugs have gone missing. Money vanishes. And neighbours suddenly become unneighbourly. Nobody wants to talk, either, so canny Hamish faces the delicate task of worming the facts out of the villagers.
In the process he uncovers a story so bizarre that neither he nor the locals may ever be able to forget it....

Reliable Hamish
Great narration as always however plot a bit hurried at the end and not as convincing as usual but worth the read.

Great fun
Great fun and very well read. It is always very enjoyable to try and work out the plot - but I never manage it.

A ripping yarn
Another great story, and narration - the reader represents the characters and their relationships well and all in all this is an excellent listen

An accidental engagement.
Priscilla is finally engage to Hamish, despite their toxic relationship.
I enjoy the detective story, but find the characters and relationships nasty and cruel. I wonder whether the author liked Highlanders, as she is so derogatory about them. Neither is kind to her own sex.

Query plot?
Most beautiful narratiom, lucid and gently expressive of the area and of the local characters. The fiction of the locale is entirely convincing.
BUT the plot of a devastingly drop dead gorgeous male descending on a remote village of tired, dreary, underappreciated middle-aged females ripe for exploitation, is another loose version of a previous book. Therefore, I have paid for a 'pot boiler' and I am disappointed. My resources are limited and I expected better.
