Summary

If the lights go out forever, can love survive?

Return to the story about a world without power where a group of strong women have come together to not only survive the apocalypse but thrive in it. Still haunted by her time in the Middle East, Sergeant Geri Fischer is grateful to be stationed in the simple, almost boring town of Astoria.

When First Sergeant Taylor Barnes asks her to escort a civilian on a mission, she accepts out of duty, or at least until she meets the woman she is assigned to protect. Julia Sharpe wants to restart a US postal route, beginning in Astoria and ending in San Francisco. The only practical means is to go by train, but parts of the journey travel through dangerous territory. For her protection, she is assigned a military escort, which she doesn’t want. The world Sam and Laura have built together with their children is nearly perfect. There is nothing Laura would change about it, but Sam can’t shake an idea, a dream that is close to her heart. An idea that will test their love, courage, and desire for a new beginning.

Taylor and Jackie run the bustling town of Astoria together with tremendous success. Rarely do they not see eye-to-eye on an idea. Yet, when one town member’s proposal comes between them, things become a little less easy and are only made more complicated when trouble rides into town. If you like stories with romance and adventure mixed with conflict and heroism, then you will love KC Luck’s captivating new book “Darkness Unknown.”

This full-length novel, which can be listened to as a stand-alone book, is closely tied to the previous stories in the best-selling Darkness series, starting with “Darkness Falls.” These books have an end-of-the-world/dystopian theme but are significantly more focused on strong and capable female characters in loving, sapphic relationships.

more adventures and romance

an emp struck in book 1 and society crumbled, a group of friends set up home outside astoria oregon, and slowly a town grew in safety. it hasn't been easy, as evil still exists, mostly in men. now, with help from the army, a steam train connects to san Francisco for trade, and this story centres on setting up a portal service along the route. new arrivals, a lost mother, a saloon, and a county fair, add tension and happiness.
a wonderful series of strong women adapting to a new life, like the pioneers of 150yrs ago.
