Summary
Attorney Garrett Goodlove never thought he'd prosecute a medical malpractice case. Doctors swear an oath to help people, and those cases are usually honest mistakes blown up by ambulance chasers.
But when he learns of a woman bodybuilder who went into the ER with a case of heartburn and came out in a wheelchair, he starts paying attention. It appears the doctor who saw her frequently orders open-heart surgery for patients who don't need it, sometimes leading to disability or death. And the doc knows exactly what he's doing. Garrett is convinced: The surgeon must be stopped.
Teaming up with his daughter, a new law school graduate, Garrett must clear the reputation of their prime witness while battling the doctor's team of elite attorneys who are always one step ahead. The expenses are adding up, but it's too late to back out.
If he doesn't prevail, not only will the surgeon continue harming patients to line his pockets, but Goodlove's law firm will be forced into bankruptcy.

I enjoyed listening to the book. it wasn't the most compelling story, but it kept me listening. I liked the characters.

A good legal romp!
This is my second Al Macy book and I enjoyed the narrative and the characters involved. I thought that the court room scenes were well crafted apart from the idea that he would hand over a vital cross examination to a newly qualified lawyer. The subterfuge was easy to guess but enjoyable none the less I’m unsure about this narrator though as I found some voices very nasally.

Legal Thrillers Don’t Come Any Better!
Al Macy has done it again with another superb novel in his series featuring Garrett Goodlove and Jen Shek. All the usual characters are back and this time the two talented lawyers are joined by new partner Nicole, who is newly qualified and Garrett's daughter. Nicole's first act to bring the firm a medical malpractice case, something they have usually shied away from. Al Macy writes with such confidence and skill that this story is very believable. His knowledge of the legal aspects that feature in the story is impressive and, naturally, adds to the story. The author's writing talent is evident on every page and he knows how to weave a compelling complex legal thriller as well as including some moments of humour. I’ve enjoyed each of his Goodlove and Shek stories and each is as good as the next. Here’s hoping Al Macy continues to write many many more of these fantastic stories.
Nick Sullivan returns to provide his first class narration to this latest instalment. His delivery is both smooth, confident and clear bringing another layer to the story. Each character is brought to life with distinctive voices while avoiding the pitfall of falling into caricature. Rarely have I heard audio-books delivered this well and never better. Highly recommended.
