Summary

Leviathan

From debut fantasy author D.G. MacRath, Leviathan is the first part of the Gloaming trilogy. Set in the Scotland-inspired Realm, MacRath begins his tale of broken heroes, rich mythology, and brutal civil war.

A generation after a bloody civil war, Mata rules as Prince Regent. Shorn of the Crown’s authority, he wrestles to maintain an uneasy peace among his people. Will his choices maintain order or send the Realm spiraling toward yet more vicious bloodshed?

About the author: D.G. MacRath was born and raised in Scotland. He draws heavily from the country’s mythology, landscape, and culture to build remarkable fantasy worlds that lure readers in. In his other life, he is a staff writer for a storytelling agency.

A debut novel not to be missed!

A unique first novel which is not to be missed! MacRath’s world building is second to none and the story is brought to life by Ellington’s performance.

Match made in heaven. Well worth a credit!

A Waring Read

This is not the usual type of book I would normally choose to read and for some reason I couldn't get straight into this audiobook as I normally would. I finally had to stop multitasking, be still and give some time just focused on listening to the book in quiet, but after a short while I was fully submerged into the story. I found it was well written with believable details such as how to properly groom a horse, hunting tactics etc, and the characters were multilayered with convincing personalities. I wasn't prepared for just how 'battle hardy' the book would be with lengthy action scenes, gore and all. The story incorporates a lot of violence, at times being very harsh but justified within the scope of the characters and storyline. I was particularly drawn to the 'Queen' who showed great strength in character and wisdom despite the carnage and disruption around her. I look forward to finding out what happens to her in book 2 and how the story develops. The narrator did a great job with this book. He also put a smile on my face with the few song verses that sprinkled sparingly throughout the book. I thought it was delightful singing! I was given a copy of this book for free of my own choosing and have voluntarily left this review.
