Summary

The last thing I expected was to gain the spells of the woman in my bed.

Hell, I didn't even know magic existed until I'd cast a spell that morning. Then a beautiful teacher from a magical academy told me I could become the universe's most powerful mage. To get there, I need to become stronger. I need to ace all my examinations. And, most of all, I need to master the most potent spells.

But I have to start somewhere.

This begins my first year at the Mazirian Academy.

Frat Boy Fantasy

If I was a teenager and lived in America I would probably have enjoyed this book but I am not and do not, so I find myself not enjoying this book.

Like most examples of this genre the premises concept is good but ruined by its execution. The main character is a college age frat boy which the author interprets to mean a guy whose head is in the gutter thinking with his penis or whose head is in the clouds with serious delusions and lack of ability to think of the consequences of his actions.

The name of the title is a pun on procreation in reference to the fact the MC has sex magic. More accurately he is a power cloner who copies the magic of any woman he beds at their current power level. Read that again and understand what that means. Now understand that in the first chapter that the MC straight kills one of his would be teachers because of a "misunderstanding" and it is just written off as shit happens.

He finds out that the woman he bedded to get his first magic is the noble daughter of a much feared prison warden with death magic and the first thing he tries to do when seeing her is gloat (thank her) about how he has gotten a copy of her magic thanks to them smashing and he was going to do it in the packed canteen, the only reason he didn't die there is because someone with sense stopped him.

It is heavily implied that high elves kill his sort of mage on sight but their representative is a hot girl so you know how that's going to ends.

This is the level of plot armour that the MC enjoys, if you are fine reading a Randy Sue novel go ahead I won't stop you. But don't expect anything more than college humour and innuendoes packed into every chapter.

Very disappointing.

Might suit an adolescent boy? Too much gratuitous sex and bad language. Too little story line. Not worth downloading.

Wishfulfillment at its worst

This story just feels like an incel writing a wishfulfillment story. Every time MC meets a person, every person he's met so far is a woman except a skeleton, he checks them out and wants to sleep with them. Every girl is seen as an object for him to have and the story is just FILLED with boring jokes about women touching his big staff, and that the staff is so rigid etc. Etc. Etc.

I can't take it! I'm supposed to be younger than this guy but he feels like a child who's seen candy for the first time. Completely unlikeable MC, not that he has much of a personality except "wow, she's hot".

Can't blame the voice actors, that part is pretty good.

Also, the female "guide" is just looking at him amused when he clearly wants to shag everyone. Including her. And he keeps questioning if she's into bdsm. Is this supposed to be smut without story? Because I missed that tag somewhere..

Exceptional narration. Disappointing writing.

I'll start by saying I don't take issue with R18 content. In this book, however, there's no setup for it or lead up. It just kind of happens.

Onto the characters. They're all pretty surface-level tropes and none of them, not even the protagonist, get enough time to be anything more. The MC is the orphan who stumbles onto overpowered abilities and finds out he's the "chosen one" after being whisked away to a fantasy land. The supporting cast consists of a band of male tropes for sidekicks (the stuck up elf, the short nerd, the giant with the weird way of talking and the one guy who gets all the MC's references) and different females for whatever kink the reader might have (goth cougar, punk rocker, and prissy elf).

Narration here was phenomenal. Every character was distinct. The story was narrated with personality and I never once felt as though someone disinterested were droning on to collect a paycheck. Even the R18 sections were well done and those can sometimes come off as cheesy or overacted in books like this. I only wish these narrators had better material to work with.

Story. What can I say? I gave it 1 star. The MC knows how to use his powers in an instant. He's stronger and better with them than the people he learns them from for no apparent reason. Despite his being new to this world of magic he knows more in a day than people who have been practicing it for years. There is little to no tension because any problem that comes up gets solved by a sudden Deus Ex victory. The overuse of pop references and slang directed at otherworldly people who will never get them grows old very quickly. Did I mention that the entirety of the story takes place over the course of 3 days? This novel is about as disappointing as one of these harem fantasy books can get and I go through a lot of them. This is at the bottom of the barrel. You can find better for your credits.

Final thoughts. I won't say I wasted my credit as this book turned me onto some incredible narrators. I'm going to look for more of their works but I'll probably not be revisiting this author.

Really?

Mc is a tool, a poseur, a wannabe and an idiot. Narrators are great, sex is bland, great world building, the women's choices are baffling, but women usually do choose tools and idiots

great story so far

9/10 amazing voice acting as always from those 2, amazing story telling if you are in not gamelit harem and like the sexier bits realistically in the story, but not too over the top or chinopiin-esque nasty or horrible and unrealistic virginal type scenes that some *cough* authors have written, world building is good, action is good, system just started being developed and only towards the end do things start wrapping into a well done ball for the next book. if you hate fade to black and/or virgins writing impossibly wierd nasty things this is a good credit. if you just like the genre this one is not over the top even though it is a bit on the nose with the title lol this is a good one. I'm hard to please and cant stand ftb scenes, even worse when a virgin like chinopiin and co. write things that are sometimes impossible physically and make no sense, this didnt check any of those boxes, but checked all the good ones so far. just praying book 2 doesnt break all of those tropes and continues this great masterwork in the genre of sexy scene having harem gamelit that isnt just a copy. I'm pleased. thanks everyone who made this! (no I did not get this copy for free... sadly because I deserve it and have been scammed by the bad writers and audibles great-read guarentee lol) book 2 is on track to be my first soliddd 10/10.
would suggest ;P

Way to fsst

It wasn't a bad book but not even close to my favorite. the story progression was way too fast, I mean all this junk happened in 3 days including the harem. no real build up or training.

Meh

Has some issues, narration was good.

1 ) Way to fast, MC is tossing magic around like a pro only after a few days.
2 ) Zero world building, no limits on the magic etc
3 ) A head master that needs to be fired and put into prison for putting kids in danger.
4 ) Characters that are pretty shallow because the whole fking book was maybe 3 days of time!

How can one author ruin a book so badly?

What in the actual frack is wrong with this author. the writing is god awful. the author clearly has no idea how to not ruin any scene at all in this whole damn book with his stupid shitty euphemisms and garbage analogies. How as an author can you be so dense you ruin literally every tense, erotic, violent etc scene in one book just by using garbage language?

I have no complaints at all with this book. of course the direction is a mystery and no huge stupid cliffhanger. I will gladly purchase the next in series .

Excellent take on unlocking magic in a modern time

Excellent take on unlocking magic in a modern time. Good use of humor and foreshadowing to draw you in and keep you guessing, and the sex encounter feel natural to the story and not forced. only improvement I would suggest is to explain the boundaries of magic and how it relates to the person's level and how a person increases there level.
