About this listen
Kyle
When my old high school teammate invites me to stay on his family farm, it’s the solution to my financial woes. I never imagined it might also be the answer to my loneliness.
Allen Hale Jr. wasn’t the first number I tried for help. It’s been years since I’ve even thought of him. But he answered on the first ring, and hours later, we’re still talking like we’re 16 again, goofing off after the big game.
I don’t doubt his sincerity when he offers to help. His big heart shines clearly through, even at my most jaded. I don’t think twice about ditching the big city and moving back to the countryside.
The same place I couldn’t get far enough away from when I was younger.
Because I was never much of a country boy. I was prepared to hate every second of life on a farm, just like I did growing up.
But I don’t. There’s every reason I should be miserable and only one reason I’m not.
And his name is Allen Hale Jr
Allen Hale Jr
I know what people whisper about my lack of interest in women and the rumors about me. But the truth is, there’s only one guy who ever made my heart stir. Any interest in men went with him when he drove out of town, and out of my life.
But now he’s back. Not just in my life, but under my roof. Mere feet away. And all the things I ever wanted to say to him come rushing back. And all the reasons I never said them feel less and less important.
Now there’s only one thing that holds me back, one fear that keeps me silent. That if he doesn’t feel the same way, he might leave again. That this time he might leave because of me.
It’s the last thing I want.
And yet risking it might be the only way to get what I do want....
This book is 50,000 words of a rough-and-rugged cowboy and polished city slicker letting their unexpected passion for each other run free. No taming desires here, just uninhibited lust on and off the page. Listeners should be 18 years of age and older!

Country Boys Review
Okay let me start off with the best quote ever spoken by a father...
“If he makes you happy the way your momma made me, well that’s all I ever wanted for you son.”
That right there sums up the undying love of a father, even one who thinks he’s always right.
I loved this book, and I have to thank the person who suggested it to me!!!
We start off meeting Kyle Robins, a man who was down on his luck and was in desperate need of change in his life and a job. So he heads back to his home town to take a job as a ranch hand, with the family of a boy he knew in high school, Alan Jr.
I liked watching these two men learn about themselves and learn to love and trust each other. Even if it did take a while for them both to come to terms with there feelings for each other.
It was interesting to see that even in today’s society, with so much hate concerning other people’s relationships and live lives, that this book stood out to me. I finally liked Alan Sr. in the end, he really was just a misunderstood old man who wanted his only son to be happy.

as good as the ebook
The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Love and a Ten-Gallon Hat.
This was true Peter Style's style. Lovely characters with understandable issues between them. AJ is trapped between a rock and a hard place, despite being in love with Kyle for years, balancing his want for Kyle and the fear of his father. Kyle's pain from the loss of his mother and the separation of his sister are issues he had to deal with while figuring out his stance with AJ. Overall, the pace is moderate, and the event at conclusion shoots them together and banishes all doubts of their love. P.S. There were not ten-gallon hats inside.

Patience
Everything does not come easily to some and it takes patience and gentle handeling when it comes to the heart and for these two men it took a while.

Friends to lovers
I always liked this audiobook and had no problem with listening to it from start to finish, but I didn't fall in love with it, or the main characters, until almost the end.
What I particularly liked is the lack of instalust and that the relationship is given time to grow. It is a friends to lovers story with little angst...a quite gentle read/listen.
I didn't like that Kyle blows hot and cold, nor his "poor me" attitude, at times. It took me longer to warm to him than it did to Alan Jr. (and even Alan Sr.). Then at the end, it all came together in the way that this author writes so well.
The narration by Barney Parkwynne is clearly spoken and evenly paced, but a little flat in places. 4 stars for both story and narration.
