Good story

I have listened to all The Immortal Instrument series and thought I’d give another of her series a go. I do very much like the story and how it relates to the other books. With some subtle hits that where fun to catch.
The performance was okay, a bit annoying at times but I could look past it. It took me a while to realise that when she did this funny voice that it meant she was shouting.

This book got me back into reading

I was starting to worry that the full emersion and escape I could get from a book was gone, something I had lost as I got older- this book let me escape again, thank you.

Fantastic story let down by the narrator

Brilliant story about the world of shadowhunters that’s set in the 1800s so it’s a prequel to the mortal instruments. Only negative thing is the narrator, she was ok but she did weird voices for certain characters which I felt wasn’t really necessary. Still highly recommend, now onto book two for me!

By the angel

Heavens above I find myself dragged down into the wonderful mind of Ms Clare
As she spins a web off kidnapping and rescue from one dark corner to another with my head spinning in the shadows as our heroes and villains come to light in the darkness.

Captured from the very beginning

I really enjoyed this book and I'm about to start book two. The story and characters were very interesting to me and I enjoyed the subtle nods to "The Mortal Instruments ".

Unlike some other reviews of this book,I really enjoyed the narrators style and interpretation of the story as a whole.

Exceptional book

Loved the book. I really enjoyed city of bones series and dark artifice but couldn't get through the bane chronicles so was happy to find this series was another winner of Cassandra Clare but the era gave it a whole new feel.
The accent of the reader took a little getting used to but her dark sisters voice was chilling!
Hate when audio books mispronounce words important to the story though - words like stele and parabati bugged me everytime.

Good book

The story was good as it takes you back in time to shadow hunters of the past. But I was disappointed with the person reading the book as a lot of the voices sometimes sounded the same which made it a bit distracting

❤️

As always with Cassandras novels, the story was amazing. The narrator is mostly good, but her shouts (character crying out for someone, for example), are a bit off.
