Summary

'Life is too short to waste time on second-class ambitions. Go for the big ones.'

Now in his late seventies, Sir Ranulph Fiennes looks back on a lifetime of exploration, and draws powerful, inspiring lessons that we can all use when faced by the tribulations of everyday life.

Having crossed both Polar ice caps on foot, climbed Everest and the Eiger, served in the SAS and circumnavigated the world along its polar axis—a 53,000-mile odyssey that has never been repeated—'Ran' looks back from the summit of an incredible life and teaches us how to:

  • Learn self-discipline, and master fear
  • Plan for success, and make your own luck
  • Learn from failure and strive to succeed
  • Keep going, whatever life throws at you

Super Human

He has to be there’s no other explanation for Ralph Fiennes. Best inspirational book I’ve ever come across and for a negative depressive personality like mine that’s saying something. Loved every minute will listen over. Seeing him in October 2023 at lowry theatre. It would be a dream to shake the man’s hand.

Shake your head funny, bold, inspirational

Always think it’s a shame when the book isn’t narrated by the person either writing it or who’s it about. That said this is fantastic- loved the stories and the boldness of this human who has the grit of the 0.0001%

Hats off and worth a read / listen

A great insight in determination.

As above a insight into determination, resilience and against the odds and how a leader of today can excel and climb the mountain to success.

Inspirational

Fascinating stories of determination, perseverance and bravery. Ran pushes past obstacles in life that most of us would except as insurmountable and give up. Just proves that nothing is impossible and it’s never too late. I’m off to hike the nearest hill. 👍🏻
