About this listen

A gladius is a short sword. A prodigy is a talented youth. Put them together and people die.

Welcome to 271 BC

This is not the full-time professional Legion of Imperial Rome. This is the levied Legion of the mid-Republic and it is messy.

If you like Roman adventure and 3rd Century military historical fiction, you will love the Clay Warrior Stories series.

Going further than historical fiction, the Clay Warrior Stories are adventure books designed to make you want to strap on a shield, draw a gladius, and join a Legion battle line.

Set in the years before and during the 1st Punic War, the series follows the exploits of a young, hot-headed swordsman. From a lad on his father's farm, to a Legion training camp, to the Capital of the Republic, Alerio Sisera learns that sharp steel and quick reflexes are not always a Legionary's best assets.

Far fetched ? Totally, laughable? Absolutely. And yet it was amusing and it was free, it’s a yarn, it kept me amused while building some cupboards. Be happy to listen to the second book if it was free too.

Classical literature it isn’t, but

All I can Say is UTTER RUBISH ALL ROUND Sounds like an Americans View of Ancient Rome like:- he was walking down the Sidewalk and went 3Blocks in a very annoying US accent , And 3-4-5 minuet chapters, which all have chapter heading announcements

Don't Bother! ( like me wasting your Money)

An Americans vision of the Roman Historical Adventure! Littered with historical inaccuracies and continued inclusions of 20th century US military terms and ranks. Thankfully this was an “Included” title and I didn’t pay for it.

Literary Diarrhoea !!

How this book got published is beyond me unfortunately I bought the three books in this awful trilogy.
To charge a token for each book is a rip off more like one token for the three.

Waste of money

I could now understand why this has only got three stars, I saw that but I thought I’d give it a chance. It is rubbish. I’m sorry to say and I wouldn’t recommend this for anybody unless you’re an insomniac then it might help you go to sleep. I don’t think the author had one clue about the Roman legion it’s Army discipline and operations. The American accent of the narrator did not enhance the storytelling either. Sorry to say, I found this to be a dud
