About this listen
When you're mated to an immortal vampire, love is forever. Literally.
In another lifetime, six vampires lost their mates - and their mortality - to an unimaginable evil power. Despite the veil of death separating them, the strength of love draws them together across the ages. But now, if they can’t reunite with the reincarnations of their lost soulmates soon, it may just mean the end of the world.
From London to Kuala Lumpur to the ancient ruins of Saqqara in Egypt, follow the nightwalkers who are all that stand between humanity and chaos as they try to gather together the prophesied Council of Thirteen. Six vampires. Six reincarnated mates. And... the mysterious Other. Without the Council, the world will fall to darkness and become a wasteland haunted by the undead. But the demon who covets dominion over humanity will stop at nothing to thwart the vampires on their quest.
In the eternal battle between light and darkness, love may be the greatest weapon...or the greatest weakness.

©2018 R. A. Steffan (P)2018 R. A. SteffanThis audiobook is the 4th to 6th book in the series. Each book focuses on two intertwined plots. There is the macro-plot, or series plot, about good versus evil and demons versus angels. The micro-plot focuses on each vampire individually. The fourth book focuses on Xander and his soul mate, Manisha. The fifth on Duchess and her mate. The last on Snag, the remaining council members and the war that is brewing. To be honest, it is best to read/ listen the books in order because the macro plot ties the series together. With each subsequent book, the pieces of the story slot into place building towards what promises to be a grand finale.
As the vampires are getting closer to their coveted 13, I feel like the books get darker and darker. Each vampire comes with his or her own deep seeded issues that could, potentially, challenge their overall success. The biggest issue is the fact that each vampire killed their mate at the time of turning but more importantly each mate sacrificed themselves for their loved ones. The authors have definitely built the anticipation as the plot reaches a crescendo. There is always the potential for darker times to come but also a chance for love to conquer it all.
I really enjoyed this series. It wasn't difficult to commit to the characters and the plot, which twisted and turned several times, throwing the audience for proverbial loops!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
The end nears, the plot thickens...

What terrible deeds did they do to bring them and their lovers to the Demons attention.
How far will they go to save humanity? How can there be 13 in the Council of thirteen when there are only 6 original Vampires? But in the end the only question that truly matters is.... Can Love conquer all or is the world doomed to fall into Darkness....
A brilliant conclusion of a breathtaking series that kept me on the edge of the seat, brought me to tears, left me hot and bothered and made me believe that not only can good triumph over evil but that love really is all that matters in the end. I will miss my Vampiric friends and hope that some day we will meet again. In another book in another time and place. I can only hope....
