About this listen
Chop Wood Carry Water is the story of one boy's journey to achieve his lifelong dream of becoming a samurai warrior. Guided by "Akira-sensei", John comes to realize the greatest adversity on his journey will be the challenge of defeating the man in the mirror.
This powerful story brings the train-to-be-clutch curriculum to life in a powerful and memorable way.
Some things you will learn....
- No matter how it feels, you are always building your own house.
- How and why you must surrender the outcome in order to be at your best.
- Why you never want to have your identity wrapped up in what you do.
- Why your strength lies in faithfulness to the little things.
- How to develop a heart posture of gratitude.
- How to use the biggest challenges as a training ground for greatness.
- Why the process is more important than the goal.
- Why comparison is the thief of all joy.
- How to develop a growth mindset.
- Why talent is more of a curse than a blessing.

Easy, accessible read with some solid messaging.
I find a lot of self help/motivational books can over intellectualize things and complicate the messaging. Whilst I notice some of the reviews spend time questionning the validity of the narrative(?!), I find it serves the purpose of breaking the lessons into small bitesize chunks and worksheets are available at the end of it.
Give it a read, as a new parent I think these lessons will be easy to pass on to kids too.

Worth a listen
I read quite a few of these types of books and all similar to be honest ,but this get the point across quite well and not to drawn out not over repetitive, I think it depends on the sort of person you are on what you get out of it , worth a listen and only took me two days to get through the book

Great: a simple tale of powerful tales.
I loved it - a simple allegory of allegories. The youthful sentiments soften powerful lessons. Well worth a listen.

I have a passion for mindset & in the pursuit of a life by design - this book was brilliant, a lot of things I hadn't heard, and some that I had, which were explained in a completely different way.
Couple of hours long - we'll worth the investment
