Summary

Just round the corner from St Jarlath's Crescent (featured in Minding Frankie) is Chestnut Street. Here, the lives of the residents are revealed in Maeve Binchy's wonderfully compelling tales: Bucket Maguire, the window cleaner, who must do more than he bargained for to protect his son. Nessa Byrne, who's aunt comes to visit from America for six weeks every summer and turns the house - and Nessa's world - upside down.

Lilian, the generous girl with a big heart, and the fiancé not everyone approves of. And Melly, whose gossip about the neighbours leads to trouble in the form of a fortune teller, 'Madame Magic'...

No one rivals Maeve Binchy for stories of warmth, kindness, love, loss - and life not always turning out as expected.

Fascinating Chestnut Street.

Great writing from Maeve Binchy as usual and beautifully read by her daughter, Kate. I just wish there were more people living in Chestnut Street.

Warm, Relatable Escapism

lovely stories, a good few that I recognise as either extensions or prequels of her existing novels.
Maeve Binchey's daughter's narration gave proper, 3D characterisation .

Brilliant story telling

Maeve Binchy is without a shadow of doubt the best story teller of our time, what a gift to be able to transport you into people’s lives as if you have known them for a lefetime

Good read even though it's short stories

If you could sum up Chestnut Street in three words, what would they be?

I'm not a fan of short stories but still thoroughly enjoyed this collection from the master story teller herself!

A joyous listen

Wonderful collection of stories about people’s lives on a street in Ireland. Beautiful narrated by Kate the authors daughter who takes you on the journey. Some stories are short whilst others need to be explained but they all link back to Chestnut street

Loved it.

At first I was disappointed it was a book of short stories but I loved each one. Highly recommendable.

Nice easy listen

I liked this book of short stories, good to listen to for a few spare minutes or for longer if wanted. I am a fan of Maeve Binchy and also short stories so the two went well together. It was well read by Kate who came across as loving reading her mothers book
