Summary

“I need help.”

Those three words saved Grammy Award-winning singer Michelle Williams’s life. After decades of sweeping her anxiety and depression under the rug - even during her years in the spotlight with Destiny’s Child - Michelle found herself planning her own funeral. Realizing that she needed immediate help and could no longer battle her anxiety and depression alone, she checked herself into a treatment facility. When she came home, she was energized and determined to check in on a regular basis with herself, God, and others.

Practical, engaging, and full of wisdom, Checking In helps us understand that

  • building walls around our vulnerability can hinder our healing;
  • we need to reject the lies of anxiety and depression and replace them with the truth of God’s Word;
  • joy can be found when we release toxic thought patterns;
  • childhood wounds need to be healed;
  • freedom can be found when we forgive ourselves and others; and
  • a beautiful life comes from living honestly.

An uplifting, behind-the-scenes look at one woman's path to healing, Checking In reminds you that you are not alone, and that God is not yet finished writing your story.

A very honest book

I loved how deeply the author went to take accountability and to understand how damaging a bad state of mental health can be to the lives of individuals and their surrounding. Lovely analogies and antidotes were used throughout. The author has a wonderful reading voice which is very clear and charming. It felt like a conversation more than a book. Highly recommended.

So relatable.

It was hard not be triggered by the loss of Michelle and Chad's possibility of a prosperous marriage, but as an empath, that's nothing new. The stories and revelations are just heaven sent. Well done Tinetra, your rewards are piling up in heaven, good and faithful servant. God bless you.

Great book!

I really enjoyed Checking In. I love how open and honest Michelle was throughout the book. It's a great reminder to always check in with yourself, God and the people around you. Keeping things to yourself doesn't do anybody any good. Great read.

An amazing insight

what an amazing book by an amazing woman. someone who has so candidly spoken about her depression, anxiety and mental health issues - showing the world behind the glamorous world of celebrity is a normal person who suffers from the same crippling issues every human does. I love the way how Michelle let's you into her relationship and talks about the downfall something that many of us have experienced due to our own mental health problems and insecurities. Would definitely recommend this book. and also here's to hoping Michelle and chad reunit

Exceptional recording and storytelling!!!

Thanks Michelle Williams for this intimate portrait and sharing this message with everyone!

I love how intimate the recording is too. Feels like a beautiful Sunday afternoon and we're having a conversation on a porch.
