Summary
[A woman always lands on her feet]
Get ready for Cat Lady, the brilliantly bold and joyful novel from Sunday Times bestseller, Dawn O’Porter.
CAT LADY [n.]
Single, independent, crazy, aloof, on-the-shelf, lives alone...
It’s safer for Mia to play the part that people expect. She’s a good wife to her husband Tristan, a doting stepmother, she slips on her suit for work each morning like a new skin.
But beneath the surface, there’s another woman just clawing to get out...
When a shocking event shatters the conventional life she’s been so careful to build, Mia is faced with a choice. Does she live for a society that’s all too quick to judge, or does she live for herself?
And if that’s as an independent woman with a cat, then the world better get ready...
Fresh, funny and for anyone who’s ever felt astray, Cat Lady will help you belong – because a woman always lands on her feet.

Should come with a trigger warning
I love Dawn O porters previous books ,so I was really looking forward to this ,But it's awful and the cringey sex scenes just make it worse , it should come with a trigger warning regarding death/grief ,I was just sad after listening to it ,I almost didn't finish it.Quite possibly won't read Dawn's books again

Pretty dull
Having read the cows I expected great things but this one just never really gets started and is pretty dull I’m sad to say. I stuck with it a few chapters but it never excites me.

Love Dawn and her previous books.
Really loved Lucky. It might be my most favourite fiction book. Love her earlier books too.
Couldn’t get past the first few chapters of the lock down book. But nonetheless was happy to have another of Dawn’s fiction books to listen to.
I struggled to listen to this narrator. Extra s’s where they’re not supposed to be. ‘Pidgsen’ was very distracting.
The story… I feel like Dawns lifestyle is much further away from what it was eg a decade ago when she was incredibly relatable with both characters and writing. Maybe the new Dawn isn’t for me anymore. Or maybe I’m no longer the target audience for the new Dawn.

Enjoyed
I really enjoyed this book. It’s the first book I’ve listened to from this author and will definitely look at picking up more. I loved the story, really enjoyed the characters and the narration was great. I laughed out loud and cried at times too. I have 2 cats, I think we can all associate with Cat Lady !

Warning
Have never read this author before, and doubtful I would look at another of her books. Struggled to get passed chapter two and did mot make it past three. Sad as the author is highly praised.
The character has her dietary requirement which she does not commenting on, Her cat routine which is imposed on the marriage, and fine but reading the endless list makes for heavy going and that is only the buy-line to the main story.

What a corker of a story!
Loved it, loved it! Started slowly, then couldn’t stop listening. Great narrator and some really laugh out loud moments. What DOP has also done so well, is touch on really important social matters subtly as well as taking you on an uplifting character journey with lots of unexpected twists. Read, recommend and enjoy. x

Utterly wonderful
I loved this book! It was one of those where you cant stop listening but dont want it to end. I am a cat lady, so I found Mia completely relatable and loved the positive representation of pet lovers in general. It made me want to cuddle my cat, cuddle some humans, and be more myself. I laughed, I cried (no, sobbed) and told everyone I know to read it, now I'll do the same to you! read or listen to this book. It's wonderful, and I will be reading it again soon.
