Crude

vulgar and crude will be returning. All it is about is women masturbating, vibraters and a very hairy woman ! Made me feel quite sick, not even a real story to it.

Just seemed to miss the mark!

I had high hopes for this book as I loved The Cows however it feels like O'Porter is just trying to be shocking for the sake of it. The way in which some of her characters act and think just seem far fetched and ridiculous at times. I didn't hate the book completely but wouldn't recommend it! I like the style of the writing and always appreciate when authors give you multiple narrator's but I'm afraid I just didn't find it an entertaining book. If you listened to The Cows and were put off by the train scene (which I actually wasn't) then So Lucky won't be for you.

Dreadful - reads like a badly written teen magazine

I read The Cows which I thought was ok... Nothing great.
But this was painfully bad!
Cliche, unbelievable, poorly written. It was difficult to get through.

Outrageous fun! Dawn O’Porter better than ever

I loved Cows. I love So Lucky as much.
A great listen to / read. Making me laugh out loud many times. Like Cows, I’ve now bought the book for 4 girl friends. Brilliant!

Enjoyable and mildly shocking

I struggled with some of the performance by Dawn, it felt rushed and unprepared with incorrect inflection during some sentences.
Often hearing her swallow or run out of breath.
Story was OK not as good as Cows

Every woman needs to read this!

Another fantastic book by Dawn O'Porter - I couldn't stop listening!

Beth and Ruby are such strong and relatable characters; a story of true courage and feminism in a world where it's still so difficult to be a woman sometimes.

I also want to thank Dawn for writing so openly about the trials of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). It is something that so many women suffer with, including myself, and yet it is so rarely talked about.

Dawn has a gift for sharing the good, the bad and the 'ugly' aspects of navigating womanhood - and has helped me understand myself more as a result.

Just brilliant - humour, heartache and humanity.

I loved The Cows and this is just as good. Wonderful, heartwarming and immersive, the story centres around a group of individual women who all have a tale to tell. As Dawn does so well, their narratives have funny moments as well as being touching, honest and sad. I really recommend this audio book as the character voices are performed so well and feel really authentic. One of my favourite books of 2019.

Disappointed

I absolutely loved ‘Cows’ and so was really looking forward to a new novel by Dawn O’ Porter... ‘So Lucky’ just didn’t meet the same standard. I found it hard to even like the lead characters and some of the scenarios ridiculously far fetched.
A really difficult read.
