This is the story of his deadly teen years as leader of the fearsome Garfield Boys; his recruitment into the Profaci - later the Colombo - crime family; his bloody betrayal of the Gallo brothers; his role in the hair-raising ambush and slaying of Albert Anastasia - the Lord High Executioner of Murder, Inc. - as he sat in a barbershop chair getting a shave; the terror he struck into the hearts of the New York Mafia's other families, and even his own crews; and the many courtroom trials where Persico walked after witnesses came down with sudden cases of "amnesia."
Today, Persico schmoozes with Ponzi king Bernard Madoff behind bars. There, at age 84, his legend - packed as it is with coldblooded brutality - continues to inspire goodfellas everywhere.

A Good Book
I enjoyed this, but I felt that it could have done with some more in depth information on some of the subjects, it fwely like it skipped over a few things, otherwise well worth a listen...

Definately worth a listen
A lot of great material I'd never heard before.
Highly recommended for those bored of the same regurgated stories of New York Cosa Nostra.

For all time this man spent in jail he still was boss , A scary world they live in , its a great read with some good characters who give us an idea into Persicoes mind

A brilliant listen
An amazing book, chronicling the life of Carmine Persico. Wow, what a rapscallion he was, even as a child. The book was well written, very informative and enjoyable from start to finish. Recommended for Mafia enthusiasts.
