Summary
In this scrumptious cozy mystery from New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Joanne Fluke, baker Hannah Swensen is tempted by a high-profile tournament in Lake Eden that quickly turns deadly….
Embracing a sweet escape from her usual routine at The Cookie Jar, Hannah gets asked for her help in baking pastries at the local inn for a flashy fishing competition with big prizes and even bigger names. But the fun stops when she spots a runway boat on the water and, on board, the lifeless body of the event’s renowned celebrity spokesperson….
Famed TV show host Sonny Bowman wasn’t humble about his ability to reel in winning catches, and no one knew that better than his tragically overworked sidekick, Joey. Did Joey finally take bloody revenge on his pompous boss - or was Sonny killed by a jealous contestant?
With goodies to bake and a mess of fresh challenges mixed into her personal life, it’s either sink or swim as Hannah joins forces with her sister, Andrea, to catch a clever culprit before another unsuspecting victim goes belly up....
Features over a dozen cookie and dessert recipes from the cookie jar!

Not the greatest
I have read every Hannah Swenson novel and loved most of them; however I hated the one previous to this. It feels like the author is just writing to a formula now and I am not sure if I will purchase the next one.

Ditzy women in a cookbook
The women in story are so irritatingly ditzy. They don’t come across as being secure without the men . Very hard to get through not much of storyline- maybe author just needs to pen a cookbook.

Too many recipes
There were more recipes than any other book, sometimes 3 at a time, breaking up the story too much. I used to appreciate the recipes but this is getting ridiculous. Does she have a word count she needs to meet?

Get a new narrator.
Love this series, but the narrator makes the characters seem childish. Otherwise, good read.

A little too "old fashioned" but entertaining
Cute story but so way too "old age". love the recipes but way too many. Nonetheless, entertaining.

Just don't bother.....
I am 3/4 of the way thru this book and all that has happened is I know someone is dead. The rest is recipes, fishing talk and pointless conversation. There are so many words, but no story..... and I have read every book in the series up til now. What happened? I'll be returning without finishing, which I never do, because it's not interesting enough to know who did it.....

Too many recipes
I felt there was a larger percentage of recipes to storyline in the current book.
I felt referring back to Hannah's relationship with Ross boring in could be rapped up in two sentences.
My least favorite book with the murder known as soon as introdtion.

Did not care for this book in audible form
This author is a favorite of mine, but I won’t get another audible one of hers. I liked the story but did not like having recipes read to me. It really slowed the pace of the story and was very boring.

Recipes
Yes. In paperback recipes can be skipped over to get to the story. In audiobook form, we don’t have that option
