Summary
Candice Brathwaite's much-anticipated second book about all the things she wishes she'd been told when she was young and needed guidance.
I Am Not Your Baby Mother was a landmark publication in 2020. A thought-provoking, urgent and inspirational guide to life as a Black British mum, it was an important call-to-arms allowing mothers to take control and scrap the parenting rulebook to do it their own way. It was a Sunday Times top-five best seller.
Sista Sister is a compilation of essays about all the things Candice wishes someone had talked to her about when she was a young Black girl growing up in London. From family and money to Black hair and fashion, as well as sex and friendships between people of different races, this is a fascinating listen that will have another profound impact on conversations about Black Lives Matter.
Written in Candice's trademark straight-talking, warm and funny style, it will delight her fans, old and new.

Love, love, loved it!
Yes Gurl, you went there! This is a must listen for every British-Born, Dark Skinned Black female: and anyone in our society who would admit to a desire to truly educate themselves on 'The Struggle'. My favourite chapters were part 6 and part 10. But throughout this listen I heard involuntary moans of assent escape my closed lips and even discovered moisture trickling down my cheeks. Thank you, Ms Brathwate. You reached into my very soul. Another level of self discovery has begun. Eternally grateful.

One of the sweetest books I’ve ever read.
Thank you Candice for writing this. You aren’t that much older than me but I felt like I was being advised by the big sister I’ve never had but always needed.

Just wow!
She highlighted so many important things that are often not discussed in the black community. I found this audio book deep and touching, as I can relate to it on many levels. Listening to her narate her own book made it more of a personal experience. I'm so grateful I came across it!
I rarely write a review, but I felt that, in this case, it was necessary.

The Truth.....
Really enjoyed this one and could relate on so many levels. The emotion in the narration, really struck a chord with me. She hit it on the nail.
Thank you Candice Brathwait for sharing in a non-confirmist way 😊.

A gentle listen about some harsher life truths for black women
This audiobook was enjoyable to listen to and delved just enough into topics like colourism, death, self-hate and hair politics without being overly triggering (in my opinion).
Although, for those who feel they wanted to find out more about the author, this title doesn’t go into enough depth.
There is a chapter on death and grief in which Candice mentions she was being begged by her granddad to stop taking the drugs she had become addicted to but nothing more of the topic to spoken of. Just one line.
You’re almost left wondering more about the author than when you first started- but that might be the point.
Overall a decent and calm listen from a Black British woman, which I find refreshing.

A must read
I just love the honesty and authenticity of this book. I am 64 and so much of what is said relates to my life as a black woman. Candice is so eloquent and speaks so beautifully, I was sad when it ended. Thank you for making some of us realise, we are not alone.
