Summary

Follow Mae West as she searches for clues to bring killers to justice in this Campers and Criminals Cozy Mystery bundle.

Beaches, Bungalows, and Burglaries: Mae West, a far cry from the Hollywood actress, has been thrown for a loop. Her plush lifestyle in the big city of New York comes to a screeching halt after the FBI raids her mansion and arrests her husband, Paul West, for a Ponzi scheme that rips people out of millions of dollars.

Deserts, Driving, and Derelicts: Mae has grown to love her RV community, and now that she's found a place to call him, she's not going to let anybody ruin it. Mae throws all of her heart and amateur sleuthing skills into bringing the real killer to justice.

Forests, Fishing, and Forgery: Happy Trails Campground is at the center of a murder in which campers as well as locals are suspects. It looks likely that a local resident is responsible for the dastardly deed since the victim is the one person who had the power to shut down the national park, which would be devastating to Normal's small businesses.

Maybe it's a Southern thing

It's very annoying how charterers constantly refer to May with her full married name 'May West'. Is it supposed to be a cute joke constantly comparing the main charter to the old film actress? If so, it wasn't funny in the first book and it got down right annoying in the books that followed. Her name is May. No one I know uses first and last names to talk to people they are acquainted with for many weeks or months. It sounds like a small thing, but it happens all throughout the books. I nearly returned this audiobook midway through the first installment because it was so annoying. Like a bad joke someone keeps repeating because no one laughed the first six times they told it.

I had hopes the author would fix the annoying name issue in the following books and it did get slightly less prevalent but never fully went away, even by book 7. It's one of several irritating distracting features to an ok mystery series.

Additionally, there are details in the books that change without explanation . Such as Hank Sharp starting as an FBI agent then, without explanation, becoming a police detective in later books. There were references to May growing up poor early in the series, and her neighbor was able to go to debutante classes. Then, in later books, the author changes the plot as May as the one with debutante training. It feels like if the author isn't invested in her characters back story, why should the reader care? In general the books are ok, but could use better attention to detail, less repetition, less annoying plot issues caused by poor communication and assumptions, and better editing for story consistency.

Can't deal with the narration

The super singsong-y narration with no regard to what's actually happening in the story is super distracting. Gonna try to get through it, but ugh. I thought audio book narrator's were actors. Poor narration makes it hard to hear the actual writing style.

Not good

This book lost me when the stupid woman that’s the main character didn’t know how to use a Keurig. I understand being privileged but she wasn’t always privileged she used to be a flight attendant for goodness sake! The author makes her so stupid and helpless it’s too annoying to deal with. Maybe it was supposed to be humorous and cute but it wasn’t. And after she didn’t read the manual for the camper that she was left as her only living situation when her attorney told her specifically do do? And she’s a grown woman? I never thought a bus that manual after her TV didn’t work her light switches didn’t work and her refrigerator and toilet didn’t work? My 10 year old Isn’t as big of an idiot as this woman. I was done.

Wish I Could pack this set up & send it on a Forever trip

I love camping & I enjoy cozy mysteries BUT I did not like this… unfortunately audible will not let me return it so I am stuck with it, maybe I’ll try it out again in the future but I really doubt it. It’ll most likely be camping out in my unfinished audio book selection.

I didn’t like the narration, the story is so slow dare I say boring; I’m mostly annoyed I can’t return it but I hope others enjoy it because the concept it cute. But I’m gonna send this on its way and leave the crickets to do the talking.

Very cute! Great value with 3 books for 1 credit.

Very cute coy mystery. Being from Kentucky much was familiar. Myony issue is she continually describes the area as The Daniel Boone National Park, it’s actually the Daniel Boone National Forest and covers a lot of area. This gives the impression it’s just a small park setting. There are several hundred thousand acres.
I love her character and the friends she makes. I will continue reading her books.

I really enjoyed this

Lighthearted mysteries- a really nice escape from the news and weather. The characters are well developed and relatable. Totally enjoyed all three.

Southern accent not good

so the stories are fun although like other reviewers have mentioned the author changed quite a few character details between stories with no explanations which is slightly troubling but not really important. one detail I didn't like about the author was the constant name may West or may ba line long drawn out weird like and ugh it was painful to listen to.

ahh the love story! it's a total twilight situation in the first three books. I totally want her to be with the sherif hank not the cheff guy! lol but it's very cute except I would like to see some more hand holding and kissing they don't have to jump into bed or anything but after five dates you should be able to hold hands I think ;) the story's are fun and easy to listen to ( I have been while working as a massage therapist with one ear bud in while clients relax or nap)

Jesus christ why do all the men sound mentally slow having a southern drawl does not make people sound slow. the narrator makes all then men folk sound like they are a few crayons short of a full box and it's frustrating.

cozy mystery

This series was average. I liked the premise of Mae having to start over and learning to love her new situation. I thought she could've been given more common sense in book 1 but she finally figures out daily stuff. Plus her belief she can right all her ex-husband's wrongs is a big stretch. I did enjoy the other town characters.
