Summary
The first in a new action series from a television star, ex-SAS solider, body guard to the stars and best-selling nonfiction author.
The first in a brand-new series from SAS: Who Dares Wins star.
A country in turmoil.
A rescue mission gone wrong.
A hero unlike any other fighting to save a broken world.
Matt 'Mace' Mason is deployed on a deniable SAS mission in war-torn Yemen, becoming embroiled in a hostage rescue that goes terribly wrong.
Pulling at the strings of the local political scene is not only the local warlord who is destined to become Mace's nemesis, General Ruak Shahlai, but hardbitten American arms dealer Erica Atkins, who controls a whole international network to her advantage.
As well as his own team, Mace has to work, initially unwillingly, with female CIA Agent (and Islamic scholar) Redford. Together they will need to prevent an attack that would spark a regional war and create the largest environmental disaster the world has ever seen.
Don't miss the first in the new Mace Mason series from an author who has been there and done it all, Billy Billingham.
About the Author:
Billy Billingham spent 17 years in the SAS. He was responsible for planning and executing strategic operations and training at the highest level in locations including Iraq, Afghanistan, South America and Africa, and has led countless hostage rescues. He later became a bodyguard to A-list celebrities, such as Brad Pitt, Sir Michael Caine and Tom Cruise. Since 2015, Billy has been one of the lead presenters on the popular Channel Four series SAS: Who Dares Wins. Of the lead line-up, he is the only one with a genuine SAS career.

This story is crying out for a Hollywood production!
Fantastic story, great characters, believable plot and the right mix of suspense with nail-biting action. If Hollywood doesn’t make a studio budget film of this there’s something very wrong! Would love to see this on the big screen

Action and Excitement all the way!
A great first novel! I’d been waiting a while for this and wasn’t disappointed. Written by someone who has been there, seen it and done it, which adds credibility to the characters and storyline. The stage is now set for the next instalment, which I hope is already on it’s way.

Gripping listen, great realistic story
I love stories from Andy Mcnab, Chris Ryan etc so thought I'd give this a go. Despite being a more accurate depiction of SAS missions, it does not take the enjoyment of action from it. in fact it makes the storyline feel more authentic and unpredictable. I was pleasantly surprised and would 100% recommend.

Bloody Brilliant Book Billy
Descriptive, informative, exciting, dramatic, explosive action and bravery. I learnt more about the intricacies, the “behind the scenes”politics and atrocities of war surrounding the Middle East in this book than by watching the news or reading the papers.
I love the book’s hero Matt Mason and I loved the insights into The Regiment which makes me the respect each and every one of those soldiers even more than I did.
Brilliant book, brilliantly told and 100% recommend it!

Top Notch Gritty Action
An amazing first foyer in to the world of SAS Fiction books by Mark"Billy" Billingham.
The writing is superb and makes you feel like your there in amongst the fire fight and the story gives us civvies a small but insightful glance into the world of what it's like to be a blade or a badge member of the SAS Regiment and what goes on in the world of the men with the Sand coloured beret.
Cant wait to sink my teeth into the next one and hopefully meny more to follow.

Read the paper novel
I listen to a lot of audiobooks and I really struggled with the Narrator in this one! I found myself switching off on many occasions as found his narrating flat and his impersonations of the characters below average/borderline poor. Tried to persevere but, by Chapter 15, I had completely switched off from the story. The red flag for me was when the storyline twists at the end of Chapter 15 and instead of feeling “WOW! What the…!?!”, in the moment of the cliffhanger content…instead my mindset was “What did the Narrator say?” and feeling less enthused and not gripped.
Reading the actual novel written by Billy Bingham is far more gripping and thrilling!
