About this listen
Tonight is the night for secrets....
A taut, emotive and all-consuming psychological thriller, reminiscent of Play Misty for Me, from the critically acclaimed author of Maria in the Moon and The Lion Tamer Who Lost....
Pregnant Victoria Valbon was brutally murdered in an alley three weeks ago - and her killer hasn’t been caught.
Tonight is Stella McKeever’s final radio show. The theme is secrets. You tell her yours, and she’ll share some of hers. Stella might tell you about Tom, a boyfriend who likes to play games, about the mother who abandoned her, now back after 14 years. She might tell you about the perfume bottle with the star-shaped stopper, or about her father....
What Stella really wants to know is more about the mysterious man calling the station...who says he knows who killed Victoria and has proof. Tonight is the night for secrets, and Stella wants to know everything....
With echoes of the Play Misty for Me, Call Me Star Girl is a taut, emotive and all-consuming psychological thriller that plays on our deepest fears, providing a stark reminder that stirring up dark secrets from the past can be deadly....

Excellent!
Secrets...Stella, a late-night DJ for a local radio station, has a pocket full of them. During her show, she asks her listeners to share their deepest, darkest, secrets. In return, she will share hers. She won't share the one about the cherished bottle of perfume, its dazzling star stopper confining the scented essence of the mother who abandoned her. But she may share the one about her unknown father, as dark and mysterious as the night sky and the distant stars she turns to for comfort. Perhaps sharing them will entice the mysterious caller, who claims he knows who brutally murdered the young, heavily pregnant, woman, three weeks ago, to call again. But as the show gets underway, the ghosts of the past begin whispering their secrets from the shadows. Secrets they kept, secrets they shared, secrets they died for. Beech's storytelling, the writing, the characters, all had me hooked from the first chapter, drawing me into their world they held me there until I'd listened to their secrets.

Decent Story
No big twists, no life changing revelations and I would say pretty early on that you know what is coming. However it is an enjoyable story with good narration.
Not a bad way to spend a credit, if maybe a little farfetched.

Dive in, feet first.
All the great reports that I had heard about “Call Me Star Girl” are totally correct: I lapped up the audiobook, listening while driving and some binge listens in and around the house.
The author has produced a modern setting for a compelling story.
The dialogue is brilliantly written and the characters are so convincing. Praise for the narration too.

5 Star Narration
A completely brilliant and haunting narration. Katy Sobey's voice stayed with me long after I'd finished listening to the book.
