Is turning a haunted mansion into a bed-and-breakfast such a good idea? Sean and his family think so, except for Avery, who believes guests will be scared away by disembodied voices, candles that light themselves, and the ghostly reenactment of the notorious Graymoor ax murders. When the gay boys of Verona went their separate ways, Verona was more at peace than it had been in ages. Skye, the local champion of gay boys, has been gone for five long years, however, and much has changed in his absence.

A little long but emotionally rich
- By Liz on 07-06-22
Summary
During the summer months of 1912, thousands of visitors arrived on passenger trains to visit the resort town of Culver, Indiana, and enjoy sparkling Lake Maxinkuckee. They stayed in the hotels that dotted the town and lake, and danced the night away on the floating dance pavilion, The White Swan. It was a time of new beginnings when everything seemed possible.
Grayson is haunted by his past, but is doing his best to change his ways and make something of himself. Shane is living his dream and is content - until he meets Grayson. The two young cadets of the Culver Military Academy see something in each other they have never seen in another boy. Both know they are different, but one tries to turn from that life, while the other indulges in it. Together, perhaps, they can find happiness.
Cadets of Culver is a tale of love, friendship, and coming to grips with a tragic past.

Full of Surprises
I got a few surprises out of this book, which would definitely be spoilers to discuss in detail. There was a character who, upon being introduced, I expected to despise throughout and be annoyed by the inevitable redemption arc, but his story wound up being very moving and satisfying. I thought we were moving along in a nice, straightforward story, but there was a sucker punch that definitely threw me.
I, of course, made some jokes with the friend who recommended this to me about the heavy amounts of detail in describing food and dick, but these are important things! As much as the emphasis on those topics made me chuckle, this dove deep into strong emotion and had me in full tears more than once.
Overall, this was just a lovely surprise of a book. I was very pleased with the narrator and his voicing of the principle characters, as well as the subtle effects thrown in for added realism. I think every one of my heartstrings has been plucked.

Great Stuff
Fantastic story, beautiful couple, though Shane left a little to be desired for me. Grayson was very lovable, and I enjoyed learning about life at Culver. The narrator was phenomenol, he brought the story to life in a way I've never heard from an audiobook before! Listen! You will not be disappointed!

Beautifully written
This story is so beautiful and wonderful to listen to. The writer keeps you wanting to learn more every minute of the journey. Jerry Bradshaw once again delivers an enjoyable narration. I was able to differentiate the characters easily with Mr. Bradsaw's voice interpretations. An excellent listen!
