Summary

Cancer is cancer. Chemo is chemo. Right? That's what Mel thought before she received her diagnosis. But she quickly found out she had a lot to learn! From bird poo to shingles, Aunt Sally to burnt boob, and too many other "special joys" to mention: Who knew?

Everyone's cancer story is different: Not worse, not better, just different. Mel lets us in on her own unique story of cancer, other illnesses, and general life chaos with some inappropriate humor and a touch of swearing. Melanie Green is a mother of two from Suffolk whose life was turned upside down when she received her cancer diagnosis in 2018. Because of this, she quit her job and is now living life to the full with her husband, Big G, as she travels the world and continues to write.

Finally got round to listening

I have been promising to read this book as I know the author - not well but well enough to know that it would not be boring! I listened to it one sunday afternoon while in the depths of my own grief for an unrelated incident. I felt that lots of what Melanie says very relatable to my own situation and she has put lots of my feelings into the words that I havent been able to express. The narrator was lovely and I could almost hear Mel's laugh as she punctuated a sentence. Do listen whether you have had cancer or not whether you have a family member how has had it - or not! It gives a real insight into the life of a beautiful soul who is not afraid to share her story even with the TMi.
