About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

A swoony small-town romance that will set your heart racing.

Since the moment our lives fell apart, the only thing that mattered was making a good life for my seven-year-old son. A life where he was happy and safe.

I just never expected to find safety with a hockey player known for his brutal dominance on the ice and recklessness off it.

But Cope Colson is so much more than his public persona.

And when my life falls apart again, he’s the one picking up the pieces. Until we’re living in his house, eating his chef-worthy meals, and I’m falling for him. Hard.

But Cope has secrets, and so do I.

Forces from our pasts soon emerge from the shadows, and it seems they’ll stop at nothing to end our happiness. Once and for all. . .

Fab

Book 3 gives us Sutton & Copes story. Cope is one of the siblings this series if following and we met Sutton in the previous books, she owns the cafe Thea the fmc of the last book works at. She is a single mum to Luca her adorable hockey loving little boy who is attending his very first hockey camp and guess who happens to be back in his hometown for the off season and volunteering at said camp... none other than Lucas favourite player The Reaper aka Cope. Cope & Sutton meet and sparks fly and the story goes from there.

Another throughly enjoyable installment to this Romantic Suspense series and it's for that reason this review is going to be vague so as to avoid spoilers. What I will say is I loved Suttons stength and determination to provide the best for Luca, I enjoyed the relationship development between her and Cope and his interactions with Luca were really sweet. The found family vibes were strong in this with Sutton & Luca being welcomed into the Colton clan with open arms. The Suspense aspect of this one lacked something for me with this one but I can't quite put my finger on exactly what as I was never bored or felt like the story dragged it just didn't have me wondering what/who the threat was going to be etc. I listened to this on audio and both Erin Mallon & Connor Crais were excellent as always, to be fair Connor could read the ingredients list from the back of something and I would happily listen. 🤷‍♀️😂 I'm buddy reading this series with my bestie and that only adds to the overall enjoyment as the messages we send back and forth amuse me, I'm already looking forward to us diving into the next book when we get chance. 🌶🌶

"Life isn’t perfect. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows. It’s about finding people who will weather the storm with you. Who will find ways to dance in the rain."

"You gave us a safe place to land. A harbor in the storm."
