Story
All the ton agree: there is no one quite like Hyacinth Bridgerton. Fiendishly smart, devilishly outspoken and - according to some, particularly Gareth St. Clair - probably best in small doses. But there's something about her - something charming and vexing - that grabs one and won't quite let go. Gareth and Hyacinth cross paths at the annual - and annually discordant - Smythe-Smith musicale. To Hyacinth, Gareth's every word seems a dare, and she offers to help him out with a knotty inheritance problem he's facing.

Story
Everyone expects Billie Bridgerton to marry one of the Rokesby brothers. The two families have been neighbours for centuries, and as a child the tomboyish Billie ran wild with Edward and Andrew. Either one would make a perfect husband...someday. There is only one Rokesby Billie absolutely cannot tolerate, and that is George. He may be the eldest heir to the earldom, but he's arrogant, annoying and she's absolutely certain he detests her. Which is perfectly convenient, as she can't stand the sight of him, either.

Honoria Smythe-Smith, the youngest daughter of the eldest son of the Earl of Winstead, plays the violin in the annual musicale performed by the Smythe-Smith quartet. Story
From the moment she met the devil-may-care Duke of Margrave, Edie knew he could change her life. And when he agreed to her outrageous proposal of a marriage of convenience, she was transformed from ruined American heiress to English duchess. Five years later, she’s delighted with their arrangement, especially since her husband is living on another continent.
Summary
The sixth novel in Julia Quinn's globally beloved and best-selling Bridgerton Family series, set in Regency times and now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix. Welcome to Francesca's story....
In every life, there is a turning point. A moment so tremendous, so sharp and breathtaking, that one knows one’s life will never be the same. For Michael Stirling, London’s most infamous rake, that moment came the first time he laid eyes on Francesca Bridgerton.
After a lifetime of chasing women, of smiling slyly as they chased him, of allowing himself to be caught but never permitting his heart to become engaged, he took one look at Francesca Bridgerton and fell so fast and hard into love it was a wonder he managed to remain standing. Unfortunately for Michael, however, Francesca’s surname was to remain Bridgerton for only a mere 36 six hours longer - the occasion of their meeting was, lamentably, a supper celebrating her imminent wedding to his cousin.
But that was then.... Now Michael is the earl and Francesca is free, but still she thinks of him as nothing other than her dear friend and confidant. Michael dares not speak to her of his love...until one dangerous night, when she steps innocently into his arms, and passion proves stronger than even the most wicked of secrets....

By far the best book so far
I had started to get tired of the Bridgerton books as the men just got more arrogant, sexist and unlikable but this one really turned it around for me. Love the characters and story is engaging.

what a good book!
i’m positively delighted and impressed with this book, it completely stood out from the rest of the series, much like francesca stands out from the rest of her family.
the characters are so real and their struggles so deeply human, and oh my finally a man in the bridgerton saga who is not an utter and complete a-hole! i really didn’t expect that after all the borderline abusive treatment of women desolated in the previous books. but michael is just perfect in every sense, with feelings and emotions that are not just candid, but somehow truly mesmerizing. there is also a big psychological element to this story, with themes of grief and infertility heavily influencing the story, which elevates the romance to this kind of analysis of human behaviors in love of sorts.
it’s also super racy and hot which i cannot say i didn’t enjoy A LOT. and the narrator’s scottish accent was so delightfully hilarious it probably deserves a review of it’s own. i grew to really love the narrator with her wee funny voices and trying to sound as “masculine” as she possible can.
overall it’s a very good book, romantic, smart, emotional and surprising and completely different from the rest of bridgeton. there were some other in the series that i thoroughly enjoyed, but all in all i feel like it was all leading to this beautiful story, which, and i cannot stress it enough, i really wasn’t expecting considering francesca’s absence in the previous books and her appearing to be the boring and shy one of the bunch. nothing further from the truth! she’s a woman who knows exactly how to take control and i just have to be absolutely head over the hills in love with her and this book

Dull
I am currently reading the Bridgerton books in order. Although none are gripping, this is the dullest. There are far too many repetitive ‘bedroom scenes’ and very little plot.
Francesca is only mentioned in passing in the previous books and there is little about the rest of the family in this one. Therefore, I felt I could have skipped this book and not lost any of the overall picture.
