Summary

Christians often focus so much on being loving and unselfish that they forget their own limitations, allowing others to take advantage of their kindness. Authors Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend offer Biblically-based ways to take control of your life and set healthy boundaries with parents, spouses, children, friends, coworkers, and even yourself. Using the case history of a fictional woman named Sherrie, Drs. Cloud and Townsend illustrate her growth from living with virtually no limitations to applying boundaries with others in her life. In the process, they answer many difficult questions, teaching us how to set limits but still be loving, identify our legitimate boundaries, and say no without feeling guilty. Boundaries is an essential guide for Christians who want to increase their assertiveness without sacrificing the ideals of the Scriptures.

I will recommend

What is interesting is people saying it is religious etc. If what is been said makes sense what is wrong with it been biblical. I’m listening to this again as I write this. People will always be close minded when it comes to anything with a hint of Christianity but are ok with other forms of spirituality. What was mentioned linked to the Bible was that we’re to submit to each other in a relationship. I don’t see how that is terrible. I’ll recommend this book.

too religious

i didn't like the fact that the author constantly refers to god and the bible. I don't belive in god and was not expecting a sermon in this book.

Lesson learned - read overview before you buy!

It is neither obvious in the title or sample that this audiobook is rooted firmly in Christianity which is disappointing. Although I would consider myself a spiritual person, I could not connect with the constant references to God and living a Christian life. If I was able, I would have had it refunded as I am now going to delete it. ☹️
