Good For Beginners

I am beginning a business and felt that this book would be a good start for understanding accounting. I found the simple descriptions, tables and formulas were enough to put together a spreadsheet but felt this book is for those just putting a toe in the water.

Essential knowledge for someone starting a business like myself, even though a great deal of the concepts I had already studied them but needed review. This book definitely helped me to better understand how everything comes together in the accounting world in order to help me make better financial decisions in the near future.

Thorough but designed for US markets
I wanted to learn more about bookkeeping, despite having a bookkeeper in order to better understand the financial information in my business.
I'm based in the UK and some of the information was tailored to US markets and businesses. Absolutely fine, but a UK version would be great.
It's very thorough and covers a lot, while also repeating core points to help the reader.
Small note to the audiobook company too, 11:18 into chapter 49, the reader makes a mistake and swears. Not a massive deal but editing should have caught it and I had kids in the car.

over a good listen
I am a complete novice so there was lot of new words for me but educational and worth the money.
I guess for a novice like me I will benefit more the 2nd or 3rd listen

it might be better in hard copy
As an accountant starting off I thought I would listen to this and see if it added anything new. It didn't but that's not to say it wasn't useful. Even though this book is written from an American perspective a lot of the GAAP principles are the same in the UK. For anybody who monitors this book in one of the chapters at 11 minutes 20 i there is swearing as the speaker thinks he made a mistake!

This book walks you through how to keep track of money coming in to your business and the money going out of your business. It also helps to explain why this is important and how to keep all of your information in an organized manner. I will be going through this book again and again as my business begins to grow.

It goes over the basic accounting terms and what you need to do when starting a small business. It is easy to digest and understand. I would recommend this to someone like me who needs a general review and update on the dos and don’ts of the monetary aspects of a new business.

This QuickStart Guide Accounting for Small Business is just that. A quick start guide, while I wish Accounting could be taught and learned. It will give you a basis of the information that you will need to work on and things that you need to know.
