Summary

A bloodthirsty lake monster menaces a small town in the Ozarks....

When the men find him, the boy’s legs look like they were run through a wood-chipper. He’s bleeding heavily and near death, but he still has strength to tell them of the monster that attacked him: a dark, massive creature that emerged from the bottom of the lake. The child dies before he can say more.

c When another body is found chewed to pieces, the Sheriff begins to wonder what evil lies at the bottom of Big Water Lake.

Enjoyable

There's nothing wrong with this story, its just that nothing that stands out. There's a basic plot that is delivered well but its all very predictable. Would recommend as part of the plus catalogue though as a rainy day listen as it was entertaining.

Adequate Mystery

Adequate 70s mystery novel with interesting cast of characters let down by weak ending. Good reader.

A mostly brilliant thriller

Well performed and well paced, let down by its end where everything is wrapped up in maybe less than 2 or 3 pages.

Really good

Surprisingly good, well written with interesting characters. Not your usual creature feature, but possibly all the better for it

A monster novel with hardly any monster

Uninteresting characters and hardly any screen time for the monster. Anti climactic ending as well. The reader was good, but that doesn't help the when the rest is so boring.
