The London Silver Vaults - for well over a century, the largest collection of silver for sale in the world. It has more locks than the Bank of England and more cameras than a celebrity punch-up. Not somewhere you can murder someone and vanish without a trace - only that's what happened. The disappearing act, the reports of a blinding flash of light and memory loss amongst the witnesses all make this a case for Detective Constable Peter Grant and the Special Assessment Unit.

Show me an amateur conjurer, and I'll stop him before he gets himself killed. That's the idea, anyway. But New York City isn't what it used to be, and I don't mean the recent crash. Amateur casters are calling up creatures they shouldn't be able to. And there's been a murder at the city's most hallowed cathedral, a message in blood on the victim's back the NYPD wants me to interpret, like yesterday.

A weekly newspaper dedicated to the weird and the wonderful (but mostly the weird), The Stranger Times is the go-to publication for the unexplained and inexplicable. At least that's their pitch. The reality is rather less auspicious. Their editor is a drunken, foul-tempered and foul-mouthed husk of a man who thinks little of the publication he edits. His staff are a ragtag group of misfits. And as for the assistant editor...well, that job is a revolving door - and it has just revolved to reveal Hannah Willis, who's got problems of her own.

Fantastic Boxset!
I've skipped around these books in print form reading them as I was able to get them. This boxset is excellent b/c it takes them in order and includes the very first one as well which explains how the series began. If you love mystery, dachshunds and intrigue, along with a dollop of laugh out loud silliness, you will love this series! Macho men, crazy criminals, women to sort things out and paranormal investigations...what more could you ask for?

Wrong voice actor
I found books one and two and the voice actor who narrated them brilliant wonderful and entertaining. Having said that, the stories in this series are probably fantastic, however I cannot move my brain past the voice actor doing them. The gravelly raspy voice of an elder English gentleman who made no effort at all to change pitch, tone, inflection or make any noticeable difference in the voices of the different characters he spoke for, including women, as well as his shatner-esque pause after every 4th to 5th word, made this unlistenable to me.

A lot of entertainment
To start, I should mention that I read most of the stories previously. The narrator did a good job. The collection loses a star for technical issues caused by pasting the individual audios together that could easily have been caught.
I was given this audiobook by the author for free and have voluntarily left this review.

So juvenile - don't waste your credit
The reviews for this series seemed pretty good so I was hoping I would like it since there are a lot of books. I am not sure how there were so many good reviews. The mystery is ok but you can hardly concentrate on it with all of the juvenile, frat boy behavior. I don't care how good looking a guy is, women do not knowingly line up and agree to have sex with him one right after the other. It's just ridiculous. The main character has conversations with his dangly bits, which he also named. It's like the book was written by a 12 year old boy.
The narrator is also awful. His timing is horrible with long pauses in weird places in sentences and he makes horrible mouth noises during the pauses. Also, he sounds like he's really old and the characters are much younger so it's very incongruous.
Definitely returning this one!
