Summary

An electrifying debut thriller for fans of Apple Tree Yard and Anatomy of a Scandal - introducing a stunning new voice in psychological suspense.

Alison has it all. A doting husband, adorable daughter, and a career on the rise - she's just been given her first murder case to defend. But all is never as it seems....

Just one more night. Then I'll end it.

Alison drinks too much. She's neglecting her family. And she's having an affair with a colleague whose taste for pushing boundaries may be more than she can handle.

I did it. I killed him. I should be locked up.

Alison's client doesn't deny that she stabbed her husband - she wants to plead guilty. And yet something about her story is deeply amiss. Saving this woman may be the first step to Alison saving herself.

I'm watching you. I know what you're doing.

But someone knows Alison's secrets. Someone who wants to make her pay for what she's done, and who won't stop until she's lost everything....

An OK book ruined by an annoying narrator

I much prefer to sit and read a book, but I rarely seem to get the time these days, so I listen to audiobooks whilst out walking etc. I really had to force myself to listen to this as the story was reasonably OK as long as you fight your compulsion to slap Alison, but the narrator’s voice, in particular her ‘Tilly’ voice made my ears bleed. I always look out for her name before I download any more books in case she pops up again.

So good I bought her next novel!

Excellent story, well written, fully rounded characters, enjoyed the author’s style very much. Story unfolded with pace and held your interest easily.

Girl on the train meets Appletreeyard

Struggled to like the main character for the first half of the book, but I think that was completely intentional. I kept thinking it was going to be like Appletree Yard. But plot twisted and changed. If you enjoyed giro on the train this is similar.

Thoroughly gripped by the end and it was difficult to put down.

Gripping

I was hooked almost from the first page. The narrators voice was just perfect and enhanced the book for me personally. A great story with a super twist.

Blood Orange

Excellent dark novel with believable narcissistic characters destroying those around them at any price. Moorish.

Twist

A gripping story right to the end. Not what you are expecting in such a professional setting.
