Summary

The Devil craves beauty. Even in himself.

The vampire will make magnificent promises and I will say yes.

The man I give my heart to will steal my soul.

Syrsee

My grandma gave me these words of wisdom just before she died. Then she told me to run. Because if the old witch is dying, then he needs a new one. And that’s me. This is my curse. I am the vampire’s power. I am the vampire’s strength. I am the vampire’s food. And he is very, very hungry.

Ryet

I hate him, but I crave him. I want to be rid of him, but I also want him next to me. I want to feed on him and sometimes I dream about him feeding on me. It feels like a trick. Like abuse. Like Stockholm syndrome. But it’s not. It’s just...the blood. I am the vampire’s scion. I am the vampire’s slave. I am the vampire’s future. And he will never let me go.

Paul

I am the vampire. Once you make a deal with me, it’s done. There’s no going back. Once I bite my lip—once I bare my teeth—once I let it drip—he’s mine. She’s mine. And together we are blood lovers.

Blood Lovers is a dark, seductive journey into a world where the blood runs black, the dreams are purple, and the demons aren’t just dangerous, they’re beautiful.

Fabulous

This book is so compelling the characters so original and the story from a different world.
The world of darkness and evil.
Syrsee is lost in this world until her Grandma dies and her adventure begins
Ryet is hunting her and Paul waits.
When they meet, watch out it is mesmerizing and erotic.
What a fabulous story so different but expect nothing less from Julie her abilities astound me. Where does she get these ideas. I have no clue but I love them.
The voices were great loved it

A refreshing take on the vampire trope

Wow, I was not expecting that. When I saw JA Huss had released a vampire book, I thought "Its definitely going to be well written but what is she going to bring that's fresh and new?"
Well she did everything promised. She mixes vampire lore with demonology and creates something really unique. Almost gave me Anne Rice vibes.
Grab it now because this is only the beginning! Bring on book 2 🙏

🌻I’m struggling with this, Julie!🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I really have struggled getting through this book. It just didn’t draw me in, which is extremely unusual for this author’s books. Most of the time, when the EOBS comes on, I already have a good idea about what Jh will be saying; this time I was pretty lost. Apparently, this will be a series, and perhaps things will become clearer.

The narration was wonderful, especially since there were three narrators that needed to work together, for the production.

Honestly, this book had me more confused than entertained, which has never happened before, with a book written by this author. Only time will tell if future books will be able to untangle this particular mind f***.

SADLY, THIS IS A DISAPPOINTING RETURN

This is not your stereotypical vampire lore book.. oh no no no, this is a JA Huss original story. So you have a twisted intriguing paranormal fantasy involving a fresh new take on a charismatic dislikable vampire/demon creature and the witch and scion he manipulates to get his decades long dark dream. Betrayals, secrets, lies, sexual pleasures (inc a bit of MM), revelations in the purple, black blood that can kill or save and roads that don’t all lead to hope or happily ever afters. The duet-style triple point of view narration was absolutely brilliant which was the only reason I continued with the story because sorry, I just didn’t feel it this time Julie. I didn’t feel any romance or nice feelings between characters and it left me disappointed.

Worth a credit? Nope, not this time.

did not like this one

i usually love JA Huss but this was just so rushed at the end. when music started playing in my ear I thought it was a break or something. nope. just a weird ending. it's like there's a whole different storyline forgotten. regret buying it.

Disappointed!

Paranormal Vampire listens have always been my jam but for some reason I could not get into this book. Maybe it was the witch herself who turned me off to the storyline. I probably will not continue following the series.

Not my fav!

First let me say that I love JA Huss, she’s my favorite author but this book did not do it for me. She usually doesn’t write almost comical stories and that’s what this felt like for me. I rolled my eyes several times and fell asleep twice ( that has NEVER happened to me with one of her books before). I didn’t feel the connection of the characters and didn’t really care if any of them lived or died. The main female character was weak and somewhat stupid. I mean seriously, she can’t walk away from the hunter after one night? She’s worried she may have gotten pregnant since no birth control with a demon that’s she’s tried to avoid her whole life? She had no power ) only black blood to feed the vampire? And the vamps only need one of two drops from another for months at a time? What’s worse is that he burned Rhett’s family alive and he’s haunted by this but the lust for the vamps blood makes him let it go?? I don’t know?? And female main characters only friend betrayed her in the worst way and she just lets it go. She had no back bone, pretty much does whatever she’s told ( I hate that! ) Her grandma betrayed her, her friend, the organization she grew up in all betrayed her etc.. I know the book was about betrayal but it didn’t leave me wanting more like her other books.
Sorry.

Julie does it again!

I love Julie's take on vampires. The story line was refreshing and I was drawn in almost immediately. As you go along, it becomes obvious that the world she'a constructed is huge, but it wasn't overwhelming. I wanted to like Paul and hate him, all at the same time. I can't wait to see where this goes next.

The narrators did a truly amazing job. They nailed the emotions (or lack there of) of the characters. A truly amazing start!

Not what I expected but better!

Julie Huss has a way of telling stories that make you wonder what the f**k is going on! I'm not into paranormal books but she somehow makes me love the characters and the story. I think the EOBS was totally right. I have so many questions and can't wait to see what happens next in this world.

Heartbreaking, hopeful, and a total mind trip…

I could absolutely not stop listening. These narrators rocked these parts. Syrsee has led a tortured life orphaned and sent away at birth, I got caught up in her hopefulness, her goodness, and innocence, she is also a witch, but not the bookstore kind. Then I “met” vampire Paul and he doesn’t really seem that bad, maybe? Of course I had to do away with every preexisting idea I had of vampires. He is not Dracula, or Damon, or Edward nothing like that. But he is powerful and power hungry. Ryet is not the hunter you expect either. He’s good natured, good looking, and not in charge of his destiny. The blood is addictive hers, his, theirs. So much tortured angst, so much grey area between the good and the evil. Loved this twisty read.
