Summary

An intriguing Dr Kay Scarpetta book which will take Kay an ocean's breadth away from home.

The decomposed remains of a stowaway lead Dr Kay Scarpetta on an international search to Interpol’s headquarters in Lyon, France - and on a mission that will pull her in two opposite directions: Toward protecting her career or toward the truth.

Critic reviews

"Cornwell's books run on high octane fuel, a cocktail of adrenalin and fear. Black Notice is no exception." ( The Times)
" Black Notice is undoubtedly her best book for some time: Not only because of some excellent scalpel work, but mainly because it is not so much about crime as about Scarpetta." ( Evening Standard)
"Imitators now abound, but - pathologically speaking - nobody does it like Cornwell." ( Literary Review)

Brilliant

I am re-reading/listening to this series. I had forgotten how poorly Kay treated Moreno, how narcissistic Kay is and how Lucy desperately needs therapy and should not be ATF. Since I didn't get too far into the series back in the 90's, I hope by the time I make it to book 20 Kay starts to calm down and treat Moreno like the friend he is. At this point, she doesn't deserve him. Lucy is a petulant child. Enough said. Black notice was a really good progression into Kay's grief of Benton.

Scarpetta at her best

Gripping story and great characterisation. The narrator is one of the best. I would love to see this made into a film

Watch you back Dr Scarpetta!

This book sees Kay's world rocked and not in a nice way. It all starts badly when Senator Lord bring her a letter which Benton's asked to be delivered 1 year following his death. This devastates Kay and leaves her vulnerable to those closest to her.

There is a new chief of Police in town and her name is Diane Bray. Whilst stunning to look at she has the charm of a snake and the manner of an alley cat. She is out to destroy all that Kay holds dear, starting with moving Marino and undermining what happens in the lab at any given opportunity.

Best one yet 😀

This one had me on the edge of my sit, holding my breath and saying no, don't do this or that, really it is only a story but it takes me away from reality into another realm 😁 l am ready for the next one.

Not the best Scarpetta novel but decent. 7/10

Narrator Lorelei King is brilliant. Story is ok.... felt the character of Bray and Anderson could have been developed over another novel or two. Still a gripping story. Still think Scarpetta comes across too weak at times for someone capable of doing her job.
