About this listen
Long ago, an evil wizard rose to power and waged war on mankind. Few were willing to stand against the dark wizard, and those who did fell. Desperate and determined to save his people, a king named Astilles traveled to a realm called Barrenworld, where he found the Warlord’s Chalice, an ancient cup said to give infinite power to those who drink from it. Believing himself to have no other choice, Astilles drank from the chalice and gained the strength to defeat his enemies - but that strength came at a great cost, as the chalice only granted it in exchange for eternal servitude. Eventually, the story of Astilles faded into legend, until centuries later the chalice would return to claim its next victim.

Excellent narration
3.5 ☆
Fantasy. Adventure. Danger. Magic. Elves. Orcs. Trolls... this story has it all. If you’d like a quick fantasy audio you should check this one out.
The writing style didn’t captivate me as much as I hoped it would but the story was captivating enough to keep me interested.
I loved the pull of the chalice and the power it has. It knows how to capture those it sets its sights on.
The narrator Joel Jackson has the perfect tone for a book like this. I really enjoyed his read of Barrenworld.

Too much like Lord of the Rings
The author obviously has skill as a writer, but I'm not sure why he wrote this story so similar to The Lords of the Rings with a chalice instead of a ring who everyone is strongly drawn to like Gollum, Orc armies and all. I couldn't really enjoy it because of that. The narrator did an excellent job with this book.
I was given this book for free of my own choosing and have voluntarily left this review.
