Summary

Chad Stone’s life hasn’t gone the way he’d hoped over the past year. He was laid off and forced to live with his parents in their basement. He dove headfirst into a popular MMORPG and built a crafting empire that made him one of the richest players in the game. However, FFO gamers worldwide began mysteriously vanishing while playing the game, and no one has a clue what happened to them or where they are.

Chad soon finds out firsthand when he is sucked into another world while playing the game. He wakes up to find a purple kangaroo named Fozzy standing over him. Chad learns that he is stuck in this new world and that there’s no going back. When Chad pulls a lever on a celestial slot machine, he finds out that he is a S-ranked barbarian. Fozzy tells him that he can go anywhere and do anything with his immense power. The kicker is that Chad could care less about being strong and extremely overpowered. The local townsfolk keep badgering him for help, but the man just wants to open a restaurant on the beach with some monster girls.

Austin's best work yet

Enjoyable slow stake novel by Austin Beck where the MC is granted power but instead of going on a grand adventure, or attempting to save the world, decides to settle down and run a seaside café.

Jessica Threet does an excellent job as always and the MVP Character of the novel was the Kitsune girl (couldn't spell her name) who is quite the characters, still not sure where she's hiding that butchers knife xD

amazing

I have to admit that given the title I wasn't sure what to think but I'm glad I got this. the book is amazing, really hilarious at times. the setting is amazing. narration is awesome as everything else by the narrator. the author has come far from his initial books.

I recommend the book

A little context for my review. I tend to take it easy on the first and last book of any series as not every series makes it to “The End” and the first of anything can be a shaky endeavor, to say the least. I also try to make clear the distinction between the quality of the writing/performance of the author/narrator and my personal tastes should they differ. This is the first book that I have listened to from this author. I personally enjoyed this story and would recommend it to anybody reading this review that they give it a shot. The story begins with what is called a NEET. Stands for not employed or in education or in training. In other words, our hero is a loser at the beginning and is living in the stereotypical place in his parents’ home. There is a MMO that is wildly popular in this universe and people have been going missing while playing it. Of course, this means that our hero finds himself on a new world after being sucked through his cell phone. The world is a carbon copy of the MMO with some slight differences. Our hero is greeted by a purple kangaroo who shares with him the onboarding process to this new world before leaving him with a ton and a half of questions. Shortly after arriving in town, he runs across a couple of thugs in the process of shaking down a lovely older lady and her helper. You're going to have to listen to the book for the full story. The audio book is narrated by the wonderfully talented Jessica Threet from Actors Everywhere. Her performance is as good as always which is fantastic if you've never had the opportunity to listen to her work. Well done all around to everybody who had a hand in bringing this audiobook to us the audible listeners.

great book

loved the story and great narration.
it's a different concept for one of these stories instead of being the fighter he is a chef. sure he is still a muscle bound barbarian but it's humorous.

A fun slice of life adventure!

Austin Beck writes a fun slice of life adventure. The MC, Chad, just wants to open a restaurant on the beach with some monster girls, and the story is fun an engaging. Chad is likeable and you want him to succeed in all of his dealings, and the monster girls that help him along the journey are all interesting and unique in themselves. The world Chad finds himself in is well developed, the story well written, and the overall plot moves at a good pace for a slice of life story. Audio Version: Jessica Threet does a wonderful job with this title, the characters, and overall narration. She never disappoints!

I really enjoyed this title

This was my first foray into this genre and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed the story and the characters- maybe not as much depth as some of the litrpg/vrmmo/progresssion stories, but for what it was it was light and the pace was good. I enjoyed a female narrator and she did an excellent job.

best of the authors work so far

I really enjoyed this book. it was very funny and lighthearted. I really hope the story continues. I've listened to some of the authors previous work and in my opinion this is the best so far. the characters are funny and well written. Jessica Threet was awesome per usual.

Fun!

Fun story that balances SOL with some action and steamy scenes. The kitsune girl is violently protective and obsessive, which is actually kind of a fresh take in the genre. Looking forward to seeing how characters progress in the future.
I also liked how Chad is basically a parody of other OP alpha male MCs in the genre and not some grizzled former marine that can't ever do anything wrong.

Great story

This is a great story I can’t wait to see more, The MC is very OP bit instead plowing his way thru impossible enemies and situations he just tries to live his life. Obviously action happens pretty much right away but it is a refreshing approach to the attitude that is generally taken in this genre. Also Jessica Threet is amazing all the time every time.

Awesome

It was an amazing slice of life harem book. it had just about as little action as the MC wanted and still was really entertaining. I can't wait for the next one in this series
