Summary

This multicast dramatisation of Arabian Nights: Volume 2 is an Audible Original re-envisioning of the iconic tale of Sinbad the Sailor - with a twist.

Adapted by Marty Ross, whose previous audio dramas include Romeo and Jude, Doctor Who, Treasure Island and Arabian Nights Volume 1 listeners can expect to hear Sinbad the Sailor as they've never done before.

In volume 2 of Arabian Nights we return to Sultan Shahriyar’s palace, where Scheherezade is using her spellbinding storytelling abilities to save both her and her sister’s lives. As much as the Sultan wants to kill her, each night he is drawn in by her tales and spares them. Scheherezade weaves a long, winding and exciting tale about Sinbad the Sailor, a reckless young man who has inherited his father’s wealth and spends it foolishly. His debts eventually force him to leave Baghdad and find his way alone. However, his journey quickly takes a turn when he is led to sea by a mysterious woman dressed in blue, which begins his long and dramatic adventures at sea.

Starring Abraham Popoola, Adam Sina, Akin Gazi, Alyssa Kyria, Anoushka Rava, Aso Sherabayani, Bamshad Abedi-Amin, Daniel Naddafy, David Ahmad, Firdous Bamji, Gisele Payvandi, Hakan Silahsiz Hemi Yeroham, Ian Abeysekera Jonathan Morrison, Josh Zare Karim Kronfli, Mandana Jones Nezar Alderazi, Raghad Chaar Richard Reed, Sammy Broly, Tara Jaffar and Walles Hamonde.

Classic

Great stories that wouldn’t pass for children’s tales. A bit overly theatrical but I guess it comes with the chosen dramatization. The voice actors are good.

Excellent Production

Loved the interaction between the stories ,lots of drama and doesn't feel childish although the adventures seem very far fetched and the morality very narrowly defined by the period and setting. The women still get to be fiesty and there are expressions of passion and love.

A trip to the Pantomime

A real step down from Volume 1. It feels as the story has been unnecessarily stretched over several volumes. This chapter is littered in chase and fight scenes that are tiresome and unrewarding.

Not as good as volume 1 - stuck really good though

Really good voice acting here. There's only 1 tale instead of 2 but it's really well told. Absolutely worth it!

I Love and Hate this audiobooks

It's a really interesting story, and the voice actors are really good. However, it is too short and seems more like a movie with just sound rather than actually a book that has been voiced over. There's also a lot of huffing and puffing noises, which gets quite vexing and at times there is some bad sound quality with voices being too quiet, loud or distorted.

Enjoyable

Whilst not strictly adhering to the classic tales, this was a thoroughly enjoyable and humorous set of yarns.

An ok sequel to Volume 1

First volume was great, however this one is missing something. Performance is great, but the story is not as good as in Volume 1. Volume 1 had some hilarious moments. I would highly recommend that volume 1 is not being skipped, if somebody is interested in Arabian Nights.

Fabulous

I enjoyed this volume as much as the first. Very captivating, loved the sound effects and found that it really grabbed the imagination. Had everything you expect from a great read, adventure, excitement, erotica and humour, would definitely listen too again

Overacted

I was not really a fan of this one, it seemed very over acted and it was difficult to tell the difference in who was grunting at what point
