Summary
Heavenlies roam. Eternia protects. Avalon thrives.
Cal is sorted, Avalon stands. A winner is he!
Artorian wakes in youthful form version three, and happier he could not be. Exploring Avalon is a treat to the senses, with cat cafes galore and gossip flowing evermore. Lectures on Laws and leisurely walks fill his days, with plenty abound to catch the eye. All is well on this enthusiastic stroll until a Heavenly falls from the sky, and Artorian can kiss his simple days good-bye.
Escaping to Eternia by shoving a healer into a bag, Artorian has to contend with the mess he left behind. The place may be The Pale, but it’s janitor time! Eternium is ready for spring cleaning, but what’s that strange scent in the air? It’s foul, thick, and cheesy with flair. The penguins are here. All will despair.
Artorian prepares his most luminous means. For some stains, more Dakka is needed for cleans.

Too much filler, not enough meat.
While I loved the previous 12 books, this one was a slog. I appreciate that Artorian finally gets some much deserved downtime, but listening to 4 hours of it before the plot finally got started was tough. To then have the actual meat of the story be essentially two chapters made this book feel very hollow. While I appreciate some of the character building, I feel like over half of the book could have easily been condensed down to a single chapter in a longer book. I hope this means that the next book is going to be more of a knockout, but I think I'll be skipping this one when I relisten to the series.

I want a refund.
The most tedious, nonsensical word vomit I’ve ever read. Audiobooks make call books better, but no matter the narrators performance there was nothing to help this horribly written sorry excuse for a novel. I was a huge fan of this series, struggled, mightily to get through the last book and could not stomach this one at all. I had to fast forward through the first 18 chapters to get to something that kind of made sense and had a little bit of story to it, but then quickly realized there’s still no story it’s all a bunch of filler with no rhyme or reason. The only interesting part of this book was the last 30 minutes. Considering they stated this is going to be a 21 book series which means eight more books of nothing but mindless Bible, no. Just NO. if the Author sticks to the actual story, and what they’re trying to accomplish in the series, maybe two books maximum. This is supposed to be a fantasy novel not some completely boring mindless poetry, soap opera drivel. Don’t buy the book, don’t buy the audiobook, cancel this series. I am done with this author and series permanently. And to be completely honest, I feel a bit turned off of Dakota Krout now as well.

used to love these, can't recommend anymore
I Loved These books. I've bought everything Dakota as written and participated in. but where is the story now? these books used to make me cry and I would recommend them to my friends. I would not recommend these anymore. they have become too clever but not meaningful. there was so many opportunities in these books for a good story and it just wasn't done. I'm going to get the next one and I know I'll do so like I did with the last few anticipating that I wasn't going to enjoy it but had to get through it because of how it fits in with the universe. please surprise us with another good touching story like the first few books of this side series.

Series started well… too many references
The series started really well and I have really liked it. However, this book and the previous couple book have made it challenging for me to recommend it to others. There doesn’t seem to be very much progress in the overarching story or character development and there are so many gimmicky pop culture references that it makes listening to the story difficult. There were several times that it just seemed like whole chapters were trying to see how many references could be crammed into them. So many references, that the chapters stopped making any sense or adding any value. Sadly, listening to the first, third, and last chapters would give you all of the meat of the story. (Approximate) I enjoy the world, but the mechanics don’t seem stable, changing from chapter to chapter and book to book; sometimes explained, sometimes not. I will likely listen to the next, but mostly only to hope that it goes somewhere.

What were you thinking?
this series has been on a gradual decline since Artorian got into Cal. but, I've continued to read because of the joy I've gotten from all of Dakota's other books, as well as the potential important information that might be put out in these books that will pertain to other series. it does not help that since getting into Cal, this series feels like it's been written by 5-year-old child with how fast the plot, locations, and information keep changing. but now you're having a sit through 45 minutes. dialogues trying to explain a concept that is barely different from what we already understand, especially since that 45 minute discussion could have been a 5 minute explanation. it then goes on to have another 15 to 30 minute explanation about the layout of a town. they won't even be in for a majority of the book.
I've decided, that I will continue reading artorians archives. if for no other reason than to continuously give them one star reviews.

Story was agonizingly slow
This book was very slow overall. It starts to pick up and is really interesting in the last 30-60 minutes of the book. You can really skip the rest of this book. I’ve loved everything up until this point so I hope that this one was just a miss, this was tough to get through and it just droned on about nothing with no character or story development. Just a lot of nothing about Artorians feelings. For long time fans I’d recommend skipping this one, you really didn’t miss much. Or you could listen to just the last hour of the book and you will have all of the important story beats

Forgettable
I would zone out for 30 minutes and the story would be at the same point in the story. Felt like nothing of note happens and the writer is just filling space attempting to create an origin for every pop culture reference that hasn't been made yet. Literal pages of text to setup a "look how I made this reference!" moment that is not relevant to the story.

Just can't do it anymore
I have struggled through the last few books hoping to get back to a good story line. These have become painful to listen to. I only made it a couple hours before finally shutting this series down for me.

This is the most boring book of this series.
This book, felt like it was a story going nowhere. I would recommend you set the playback to 1.75 times the speed. It was really difficult to finish at normal 1 times speed. There was just too much filler to really get into the overarching story. Get it if you want, but know you could easily skip this book. There was no real character growth or plot advancement. You've been warned.
