Amazing

I only wish I could give this book a higher rating. Five stars doesn't seem nearly generous enough. Angel is the story of a group of beings who visit our Earth to feed off humans and bring death and disease in their wake, while convincing their victims that they're actually divine, loving beings. The scary thing is it's almost believable. Set against them our Alex, an AK (angel killer) and Willow, a half human half angel whom Alex has swarn to protect. This is the most origional fantasy I've read since Mortal Instruments. I thought no one could equal Jace, the hero of Mortal Instruments, but I think Alex might actually give him a run for his money. The interaction between the two main protagonists is brilliant and the unfolding romance is beautifully done. This book took me a little while to get into but once I did, I couldn't put it down. The book is billed as a young adult novel, but adults will love it too. This is the author's debut novel and all I can say is if she can do this good a job with her first book, then I can't wait for her second.

New take on Angels

This is the story of a girl called Willow who discovers she's a half angel and is the only one who can save the world from the soul sucking angels. Along the way Willow discovers an angel killer called Alex has been hunting angels since he was five years old and after killing his family, he hates all angels, until he comes across a half angel, half human girl who is beyond beautiful and everything he thought he knew about angels.

Angel, as it is called in the UK, is the start of a trilogy that is the journey of teenagers trying to save the world whilst finding themselves along the way. It is sweet and endearing to see how two people who are supposed to hate each other can quickly fall in love in the typical teenage angst style. Alex can't fight his true feelings for long and has to decide if he is prepared to lose his love forever as Willow discovers when she saves the world from angels, she is unlikely able to save herself as well.

The narrator on the audiobook is very good and making this book and enjoyable fun listen and easily builds the tension up to an explosive ending that make you want to carry on the journey and the next instalment, Angel Fire.

Dreadful

This book is only getting a one star rating as its not possible to give no stars, or minus stars. Where to start, this is without a doubt the worst book I have ever had the misfortune to come across. The story was dreadfully poor, it had no substance and felt very childish. At least twenty percent of this book had to be made up of, "I love you, and I love you, too." It was said so many times it was ridiculous. The two main characters came across as if they were about 11 or 12. The multiple points of view were awful and to be honest the style of writing grated on me from the start. I am gutted that I purchased all three books in the series before listening to the first one. I definitely will not be listening to the last two. You couldn't pay me enough. I only made it through this one because I've never not read a book through to the end.
