Story
Brighton McKenzie inherited one of the last pieces of farmland in suburban Baltimore. It has been in his family since Maryland was a colony, though it has been fallow for years. Selling it for development would be easy, but Brighton wants to honor his grandfather's wishes and work it again. Unfortunately, an accident left him relying on a cane, so he'll need help. Tanner Houghton used to work on a ranch in Montana until a vengeful ex got him fired because of his sexuality. He comes to Maryland at the invitation of his cousin and is thrilled to have a chance to get back to the kind of work he loves.

Summary
The last thing Liam Southard expects when he flees his abusive father is to be taken in by a couple of gay ranchers. Soon he has a new job and a new perspective on his sexuality, and his life starts to turn around. Then someone pulls a gun on him.
In Troy Gardener’s defense, the gun thing was a mistake. Between his marriage falling apart and living in his uncle's isolated hunting cabin, he's been a little edgy. He wants to make it up to Liam, and once he discovers how much they have in common, he wants even more. But with Liam's father popping in unexpectedly and a mining company threatening the ranch’s water supply, the only guarantee is that life is never going to be boring.

Much better than others in the series
For some reason, I enjoyed this book quite a bit more than I have with others in the series. The story is better, Jeff Gelder's dictation is better, and the flow of the story is easier to follow. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read (or listened to) anything by Andrew Grey. You definitely won't be disappointed.

Narration was bad
First off narrator is really bad. Shows hardly any emotion. The story is really lame. No connection. Guys cheats on wife leaves wife then falls in love weeks later. No emotion at all. And not that this narrator could pull that off. I want my money back. I’m sorry

Waste of time.
Story line is boring & busy. Narration is void of any emotion - Liam sounds like he's in a continual state of surprise. I really struggled to finish this...all the books in this series so far have been let downs. This is my last try on these.

Predictable, but sweet.
Although I liked the story, it was quite predictable. But I suppose that's what you expect out of novels like this. The narration seemed quite uneven, however. Made it hard to enjoy the novel.
